On a FBL heli CG is very very important so if u have FBL then worry about battery weight. But even still it sucks always having to fight the CG

Default home made under skid bettery mount

TodayI tested my home made battery mount I made for fpv flying and had my first 13 minute flight on a 4800mah 6S lipo. it was a lot less nimble but for FPV its all about range/flight time.

Anyone running 2x3000mah 30c's? Was looking at these on HobbyCity.com
http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=9497

But then I saw some 2650mah 3S, 40C's for $24.95. http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=9947

What do you guys think? I'm not going 6S always going to run 3sx2.

It won't fit in between the heli sides. The good news is that I only had to slide it down the tray a bit with NO modifications whatsoever.
It does bring the CG forward a little, but because I'm using a standard servo on the tail, my balance was perfect.
With this mod you only need 2 holes...works great!

Back to the packs.... Guys I got a set of Hyperion 6S VX 2950s and they Rock. I have tried the HC stuff, Turnigy, FF and so far these seem to be the best IMO. I puffed the HC stuff and went with Hyperions and TP 45C and they are too close to call. They maintain power better than anything I have tried.

I use the same battery (I have 2 packs). Gives me a around 5 minutes of flying (I don't do 3D yet) and I find the CG of the T500 to be OK with them. I just need to move the battery a little bit to the front to make the CG perfect. They are not heavy at all.

How many cycles do you have on them? I have that same battery (turnigy 3000mAh) and I get 6:30 hard sport with 3.8V left in each cell. Have you checked your gear mesh, tracking, etc?

They are just about 10 cycles each. My T500 is smooth, no issues what so ever. My timer is set at 5 minute mark (8FG). But I don't land immediately. I take my time to hover then set it down gently (not used to high autos yet). So, probably...it is somewhere in the 5:15-to-30 range when I pull the plug. I do believe you can get as much as you are saying (more than 6 minutes), but I "baby" my LiPo .

25c is the continuous amperage draw rating, the 50c would be the burst rating, so it could handle short bursts of 50c draws (ie: crazy climb-outs) and regular flight continuous draws of 25c. Make sense?

I always wondered what batteries others were running in their T-Rex 500 ESP helis. When I got my kit, I ended up with a Venom 25C 5S 3600 Battery and bought another as my second battery. They work great and with just FF and some punch ups and a lot of learning in Idle up, I have my timer set to 6 minutes and still have a lot of battery left when I land.

I ordered the 550e and went ahead and got the battery. It's a Venom 6S 3600 and although it is bigger, it fits and actually cures the small amount of tail heaviness. It makes a bit punchier and a bit more headspead too. 6 minutes on it and it hardly drops below 4 volts per cell, where the 5S was going down to about 3.85.

I was suprised it handled it and that it balanced almost perfectly. So far the Venoms have been very spot on quality wise.

I use 25c 3600mah on the latest 500esp and get 8-9 mins with a scale ec-135 fuse on it. I get 10-12 mins of gentle sport flying with just the standard pod and boom, these batteries fit with no mods and give me perfect cog

i have the old frame the battery is 147x45x40 this is where it mount it with no mods to the frame but i do have the fusuno 500EX canopy witch is much more roomy i halve to slide it way down the trey with the stock canopy the fusuno canopy's are tough and worth the money IMO especially with the extra room on the ex size.

but center of gravity is good mounted like this, not sure what it weights

the turnegy 3300 are 544 grams according to the website and lots of people use those

and i found this on one of the reviews on that battery

495g listed weight is incorrect!
Actual weight = 566g
