Default Cannot Set Cyclic Throw in Mini Vbar

Went through the setup videos and actual vbar PC program. Everything seems to be set up correctly except the cyclic throw.

I have 12 degrees of collective, and want 8 degrees of cyclic. I do the start position and measure steps and set the slider to get 8 degrees.

After removing the setup program and powering up the heli I measure cyclic travel it is about 12 degrees - not 8. Total travel collective plus cyclic is more than 20 degrees and the servos bind.

What step am I missing when I set the cyclic throw?

Thanks,

Paul

Never check any degrees out of setup, and cyclic ring needs to be adjusted at hover collective pitch only. Any binding beyond that is irrelevant on the bench.

Thanks Vinger. Test flew the Mini Protos and she seems fine.

Just for clarity, I believe you're saying (which is accurate) don't try to verify the collective or cyclic pitch when you're not in setup mode.

Vinger is right. The reason you can't do that is because all of the control loops are active outside of setup mode so changes in stick position don't translate directly to pitch changes so you will get misleading values.

He's also right about how to set your maximum cyclic pitch. That's done by setting Cyclic Ring with a small amount of positive collective in Swash Expert.

Unlike some other units, vbar doesn't let you set an explicit "max cyclic pitch" value. It doesn't need it because it has cyclic ring to guarantee no binding which also allows finer adjustment to eliminate blade stalls noticed in flight.

Thanks gents for the tips. The heli is flying fine and I am tuning the overall feel now. I like it. I don't have the Pro license so I cannot see the fine tuning bits. But I'm good for now.

Looked around the vstabi site - how do I upgrade to a pro license?

There is a video on their site on it as well as here in the sticky.
