Default Beast X Prob? sudden aileron roll

I run a MB on my Furion 6 (upgraded to V3). Seemed much more stable in hover than V2. Translated to slow forward flight, and about 100 feet out, the heli did a sudden aileron roll to the right. I was fairly close to the ground, so no chance to try for a save, augered in.

Prior to upgrading to v3, I was noticing some weird behavior in the aileron (ie in banked turns, the heli would suddenly try and self correct out of a bank). Nothing too aggressive though, so I did ignore it.

All the wire runs were clear, no unusual vibration, mounting is solid. Has anyone had a microbeast go bad? Does beastx actually repair these? I'm a bit worried to repair the heli, only to have this happen again.

Any thoughts appreciated. Tks

Bill, did you have the connectors secured to the Microbeast with hot glue or double-stick tape?

What about your power setup? Are you feeding the Microbeast with its own power source, or is everything being funneled through the receiver?

I discovered FBL units hide many of the mechanical issues in a heli but can show them time to time.
Any misbehavior of the heli is an indication to look for mechanical setup. Not saying is your case, but I would recheck everything. Two samples to prove it.

My 550e was flying perfectly. Suddenly, still flying on rail, developed some slow wag more noticeable in hovering. Turned out to be the cable of the tail servo loose and disturbing the BeastX.

My mini protos was flying perfectly after a crash repair. However, during tic toc was rolling 180deg at the tic. No issue on pitch pump, flips or hard stops. At a more close inspection I realized that the third bearing support was cracked but still in place and holding the shaft. Replaced it and no more roll.

Thanks for the responses...
Running with power to the mb through the receiver. Mounting tape is good (only have approx 12 flights on this setup), wires (other than sys wire) all secured with goop. Although I haven't pulled this apart yet, it appears that all the servo wires were ok after crash.
I will obviously run through the mechanical setup once I pull the main, gears, etc to repair. I think its a pretty good comment that this sometimes is an indicator of a mech issue vs electronic.

Depending on the servo setup you've got (and how much power they draw) this could be your problem. It could have caused the voltage to sag enough to cause the Microbeast to go slightly stupid. Best bet is to "Y" off your power source and send one to the receiver, and another to the "SYS" Port on the Microbeast. That way your servos aren't having to feed themselves through through all those connections, wires, and receiver bus. (think "breathing through a coffee straw" for an analogy!)

Interesting, I've not heard of this happening. I'm running 12s setup w/ jive 80hv and cyclics (bls 451's) off the ESC at 6v.

I had almost the same issue but mine was with the elevator channel. It finally caused a crash in my quest to find out what was causing the random and sometimes violet twitching. It wasn't until I was putting my heli back together that I found the issue.

I was pushing a servo horn on and I had laid my hand across the top of the heli which in turn went across the connections into the Beast X. I was in the servo centering mode. At that time that I laid my hand across the unit, I noticed that it went from the general centering mode to the aileron specific centering.

I played with all the wires from the servos back and did not touch my radio. Come to find out, when I wiggled the ELEVATOR plug, it changed the parameter mode that I was in. I tried it in all modes, A through the end and it would do it. Found that is why I ended up with a crash and hundreds in replacement parts. It was really weird since the modes should only change when an input from the radio is received but it would change just by pushing on or wiggling the plug.

I sent it back to Horizon and they replaced in 3 days and it should be delivered back to me when I get home from work.

Bill, it might not be an issue for everyone but I know someone who had weird collective twitches on his setup until he ran a power feed to the Microbeast then everything was perfect. As they say, Your Mileage May Vary.

I just recently had this happen as well. Goblin 700 rolled hard right but I was able to counter it. But after flipping hold on it fixed it self and almost went full left because of my counter left. Going to check all the wires tonight. After I landed, I could not recreated the problem. Idk.

Hard roll can also be vibration related (usually high frequency vibes). Check your motor and tail shaft bearings. Since it stopped doing it when you hit hold, I'd suspect motor bearings.

Actually just replaced them with boca bearings. So I don't think that's the problem

Could be voltage related then. How do you have it wired up?

I'm using the HV Western robotics BEC to the receiver and gyro.

That should be sufficient unless you have some extremely greedy servos!

I'm thinking maybe one of the servo leads vibrated loose. Going to hotglue everything.
