Default Tail Servo Not Centering

Hey all--

I just installed a GY430 gyro on my Blade 500 3D. I connected the Spektrum S400G servo, powered on, and put it in rate mode. At this point, the servo should be centered (so I can attach the horn), but it instead it is almost all the way to the left. When I try to move it using the left stick, it can't go any further left and it will only move a degree or two to the right.

I also have a H6080 servo that it does the same thing.

Any ideas?

Maybe the servo settings are not set the same on the gyro and servo. That gyro can be set to 1520us or 750us. Check your servo specifications. Using the wrong can burn out a servo so make sure everything is compatible before plugging in a servo.

Don't know about Spektrum but some digital servos can be programmed. If that's the case make sure the same mode is set in servo and gyro.

I don't think these servos have any programming. The gyro is set for 1520 us; the servo does not work at all with the 750 setting.

I tried to call Futaba support today, but all I got was an answering machine. Is there any way to actually talk to a (hopefully intelligent) person?

Maybe the current settings in the endpoints of the gyro are pretty tight... What happens when you hook up the servo directly to the receiver, does it work normally then?

Yup, works fine in any other port.

Do you have the tail gryo set to norm or avs in the gryo tab on 8fg? Nor = rate mode and avs.= HH

Alright, so your servo is not the problem. That means you need to do some tweaking with your gyro to make it work right. As above, check the frequency output (probably 1520 us, I can't find the specs since the Spektrum website is down, but if it works directly from you receiver it should be 1520 us). Do the end point calibration and just make the servo move (not connected to your heli, just to see if you can get the servo to move).

I'm not familiar with your gyro so this is all I can come up with for now.

Definitely a program issue with gryo and radio and not servo .. make sure gryo chan in radio trim isn't overriding the gyro setting ... ie radio tail trim is at a high number and putting it in heading hold ... ... thus moving to one side .....
