Led strips from almost anywhere else range from $4 to $9 per meter for 3528 size single color leds. 60 leds per meter is more or less standard, though I've seen 30 leds per meter also.

So 0.75 cents for 3 x 20 comes out to $15 per meter. Yikes.

I like lighthouseleds.com for single components, but I'll pass on those strips.

I would suggest:

http://www.helidirect.com/helicopters-night-flying-c-1_402.hdx

or even ebay or amazon.com, but shop carefully and be sure to read the details. Especially when it comes to purple led strips. Some ebay vendors have those pink/purple leds that they try to pass off as purple.

Oops, didnt see that part. So its 8 bucks for one meter and 60 leds. Still a bit high since ebay has them for $5 and I think its $6 at hobbypartz.

Yea, I have some from fleebay on the way. I just thought, as bright as there singles are, there strips may be the way to go.

Do u use any of the waterproof type? They worth the trouble? Lol

The only waterproof ones I tried were the Audi sideglow variety. Searchable on ebay by, you guessed it, Audi and sideglow. They have a very unique look to them.

Waterproof led strips arent necessary IMHO unless you plan to fly in heavy fog or drizzle. And that silicone coating just adds unnecessary weight.

Yea, that was my thought about them. I just wasn't sure if there was some other reason that I should use them, durability possiablly.

I've got most everything I need to night fly my protos here or on the way but I'd like to get my 130x as a dedicated night machine. After thinking on it long and hard, I think I may "create my own" led strip down the boom using singles and 30gauge magnet wire. Top as a positive, bottom as negative runs. Different colors on left and right. I think that will be my lightest option rather then using premade strips. Have you done anything like that for smaller machines? Is there a reason my idea might not be the best thought that I dont see right now?

Sorry for so many questions man! Haha
