Default R5014DPS Receiver ?

Does anyone use this receiver and in what type of Heli or Airplane?

I currently use 1024 PCM in three different Heli's and a 33% Extra with no problems. The last thing I need is to put this in my R90SE and have a lockout.

I have heard that the R5114DPS has replaced it, but should I use it or just have it as a $300 paper weight.

Any experance is welcomed.

Thanks,
John - GA

Been using one in my 90SE for the past year and have not had one issue. I just make sure to wrap the receiver in a bunch of foam and run the full length wire. Also keep the wire away from any of the carbon and the rest of your electronic gear if you can. Then just make sure you perform regular maintenance on your machine checking for loose screws and such. The tail boom clamp where the boom supports attach is one area to pay particular attention to. Use a bit of red loctite on the screws and you should be good to go

I believe Hobby Services will upgrade the 5014 to the 5114. The difference being that the 5114 has two sensitivites of modulation that can be selected. The 5114 has A or B modulation. The 5014 only has A modulation.
You will have to contact Hobby Services to find out about the update to the 5014.

I use 5014s in my 450SE, T-Rex 600E, and now my Vibe 90. The only problem I've ever had was when the bearings in my 600's stock motor were failing, and I suffered lockouts as a result. Since the motor was replaced, it's been smooth sailing without exception.

how about joining the 5014 wire to a whip antenna? (have to cut the original wire shorter before joining)

will that create unwanted problem?

I currently run a Revolution antenna on my 600E with no issues.
