Will I own a 800?
I`ve been given an offer it`s hard to refuse. A friend of mine has a 800 Xxtreme kit with custom Scorpion 4540 an Align 800/850 servos for sale. This has not been built yet, just sitting in its Box for a long time. The asking price is $1500 below LHS.
I love the look but how big does it feel compared to a 700? I have a Goblin 700C that i love but it needs space to fly!

Do you have the space to fly the 800 ?
It will use up more space. Worth asking what type of flying your doing. The g700 will do hard smack much better than the L800 will. If your into big air / 3d and or 3d light smack then the L800 is going to be a treat. I've been thru the goblins (700 770) and I even liked the 770 so much I built a L770 this winter. Currently I'm looking to sell them off. I find the logo's fly better (for my flying style) for me. I do lot of piro's during FFF , 3d box flying , big air , etc. All mixed up. I find the logo's will 'track' better absorbing minor errors as you go, where the goblin has no mercy for errors and every slight one shows up. So provided you have the space for a 800 , and aren't flying a hard 3d smack flying style the logo is going to be nothing short of amazing for you. The goblins are kinda like a hummingbird on crack , where the logo's have strong roots in the precision flying , but have adapted to the market and will hard 3d smack also. Check out kyle's XFC video's. Worth noting there's noting quite like a 800 spun up in a hover , one heck of a presence , then do some stoppie blade barks and it's just down right cool , nothing barks like a 800. Martin

I will consider a 4540 with Kosmik 200HV be the perfect power system for the Xxtreme. I do not think it takes more space to fly than a 700 or 770. Just do it!!!

Haha I knew it was a bad idea to ask you guys for advice.
I was planning a swith to Jeti Ds16 but my Dx18 will do for now i guess. I fly big air/acrobatics and like to fly with low hs. What kind of flight time do you get from 14s 5000mah?

I am currently at about 50 flights and my timer is set to 5min30sec. I fly about 30 seconds after take off in normal mode to get rid of the shakes and then go to stunt mode for about 4minutes. Then i do massive loops and hover inverted and to hear the gobsmacking blade bark a few huge half rainbows from inverted to get upright. There is this specific angle which is at about 45 degrees that my blades start this barking and i usually hold it there as long as i can as it is almost like hearing thunder the first time
Anyways after that drooling 4mins it is back to normal for about a minute to get rid of the smile that is now pushing my eyes closed and the adrenalin shakes so that my landing can be delicate and not too shaky. That brings me to 3.75V per cell when i start charging again. So no smack goblin meet craziness 3d just nice big air stuff and you will have 5 and half minutes i reckon. I use gens ace 5000mah 7s lipos |

I set my timer to 4 mins irregardless of slow 3d or hard. I tend to drag my feet a bit when the timer goes off so this is safer for me. Occasionally the drag gets a bit longer if i know I had not idle up and my flying had been slow and easy, the timer would show more than 5 mins at landing.
I will be grading in the near future to a kosmik 200 and a 4540 .... it will be wicked. Like u, I did not bought it new. My friend who bought it most probably did not dare to fly it so he made an deal that I could not resist.

I LOVE my 800. I have a Bavarian Demon on it so the only crashes I had was in the setup phase in my first month. You don't want to wreck these as they are expensive to rebuild. Blades alone are very expensive. My 3rd crash had me so distressed that I almost sold it. All my wrecks were revolved around changing the Vbar to a Bavarian 3SX. I missed that the YGE doesn't have a governor in it (wreck 1), then plugging Spectrum sats directly into the Demon (always use a Spectrum receiver), had a brown out (wreck 2) and not using the bail out properly the first time (I hit throttle hold as thats what I was used to) (wreck 3). That was April 2014. Since then I have 140 flights on it with zero problems.
My 14S Pulse 50000mah 45C battery setup gives me 6:30 of flight time and my batts come down with around 33% left. Drop to 6 minutes and I can get 38% left. Using the 813 blades makes this machine very fast and agile. We have had windy days in Florida this week, so I've used my 800 every day. I was so impressed that I bought a Logo 700, which is also a killer machine. I will never sell my 800! As to space, if you can fly a 700 in an area, the 800 will be fine. Does the kit come with the YGE 160 ESC? ESC's cost some bucks, and most of us use Kosmic 160's or 200's. IMHO a 160 is fine, which I have in both my Logo 800 and 700. The 800 has a cool version and it never gets warm The non cool version gets a little warm so for the 800 I believe the 160 Cool is the way to go. Next is batteries. Your going to invest a lot of money in 7S batts, which you can't use on any of your other helis. I have 5 pair, so thats $1600 just in batteries. If you have a generator or your field has power you could get by with three set of batts. Then for me, I needed a bag, so that was $180! It's an expensive machine to own, but if you have the money, and are like most of us, you won't regret it.

If you will be using a Vbar (and dx18) with pro KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR LOGS! I sold my DX18 after looking at all my logs on my models. After making the switch to JR not one single red flag in my logs. Not trying to scare you. The missed signal inputs and sat switching has been discussed many times. For whatever reason Vbar and Spektrum don't communicate the best.

Will I own a 800?
Taking my time on this build. Been trying to wire everything nice but this thing is really tight! Ironic really, this heli is huge!
Will post some pics when I am finished ;-)

Wiring drives me nuts also.
Here's what I've come up after quite a bit of pondering Hope you can get some inspiration from it. The 800 is roomy , now the 700 deck is large but awkward to get right. A little tip , before sticking sensor down ( silverline is rather tall ) check to see if the canopy isn't to close. That bottom lip on the canopy doesn't look like much but it does crowd the back portion of the radio tray a fair bit. Martin

I am still missing the tail servo and two satellites but you get the idea. Moved the sensor to the lower rear tray to have some room for a clean install. Cables from esc running inside the frame.
Using a 2s 2200mah lipo for now but will probably buy a R2Prototyping bec later.
