Do you have the plain cf tail or painted orange? My theory is the paint thickness on orange tails is causing the bolts to be short. Mine are on my 600sx too.

I have a 550SX and I upgraded to the SX tail on my 600. On the 600 they're flush or proud.

On the 550SX, they're flush or a little shy of flush. Seem to be in the nylon. Nothing loose.

Crank that boy down. You didn't slide a piece of tape in there for more purchase, did you?

In any case, I'll keep an eye on those getting loose; thanks for the heads up.

Jim

Default 550sx tail belt problems?

Yah, I was good for about 50 flights then it started. And it happened again today! The belt in my opinion was tight. Spedix tensioner on the way. Ugh.

I hope Mikado get this fixed soon. I did wonder if mine was an isolated event but clearly it's not.

Works fine stock on my 550sx too (25 flights) - but I'm still putting on the Speedix as soon as it arrives, for peace of mind.

+1, mine's on the way.

I have a fat pulley on my Logo 600 and it looks much safer...

Just looked at mine and it looks like they are barely catching. I think you are right the paint is quite thick, and it could be just enough to cause the nut not to catch.

How many of you guys having this tail belt/pulley issue (with stock part) are running maxed out deflection on the tail blades?

I ask as I'm brainstorming here for a possible cause as a result of discussions in this thread on arcHELI about reducing tail blade throw to improve tail performance.

I may be barking up the wrong tree but it's worth thinking about as it seems a few guys are having the tail belt slip using the stock belt tensioner.

I'm having maxed out tail deflection...for the record.

I have maxed out deflection and have not had the belt slip off (31 flights). Pretty sure I've also never hit max deflection during a flight as I've never had a tail jitter or blow-out, even under the most stress I know how to give it (max collective sideways loops.)

I set my 600sx up for max deflection minus a point or two on each side per Mr Mel's vbar setup guides. I had the belt slip twice but never since installing the spedix tensioner. I have a 550sx on the way along with another tensioner.
