Default Syma x5c won't bind

I got this Syma quad off eBay and then ordered the transmitter from gearbest.com. Charged up the batteries. I can't get get them to bind now. I turn on the transmitter, then plug battery into quad. Turn on switch and quad starts flashing fast, then turns solid. The TX continues to flash though. I press up and then down on the throttle, get 2 beeps and TX goes solid but then the quad starts flashing slow like it's waiting to bind. I've also tried the other way turning quad on first and it flashes fast then slow waiting for bind and I turn on TX and quad immediately goes solid. Again up and down on the throttle, 2 beeps, TX goes solid and quad starts flashing. PLEASE HELP.

Not sure if there is a Syma forum here but if not you'll have better luck on the Main Forum. The main Blade page is mostly wasted space anyway and aside from that has nothing to do with Syma or other brand helis besides Blade.

Turn on the quad first and then the transmitter. Raise and lower the throttle stick and you should be ready to go!

Yep. My quad will start flashing slower once I turn on the TX. I move the throttle from 0 to 100 and back 0 and then it beeps and I'm good to go.

If you take too long to do any of this you'll have to start again.
