Arrgh ! stupid 410 servos = no V2.1 test flight
Useless Align 410M servos are peices of
Updated my 450 to 3G version 2.1 last night and set it to the default settings for 250-450 size heli and was going to test this morning. Powered up the heli for a preflight test and the Aileron servo is dead !! Did the usual fault finding an yep it is the servo. Have waited soooo long to update from V1 and Align manages to hold me up yet again - bloody typical. At least it didn't fail in flight but still this makes me angry Looks like I am now going to miss flying in the heli comp at my local field this weekend - THANKS AGAIN ALIGN. .

Yep the sure are POS! Get rid of all of them! I went with HiTech HS5065MG they are the best for a 450 heli. Get a 3 pack and go have fun!

Going to give these a try and see how they perform, cant be any worse than the 410s.

The same thing happened to me before updating my unit. Until last week everything was OK, but then suddenly, when I wanted to fly my T450 Pro, at 50% of Throttle, AIL servo moved all the way down, and the ESC was reset.
I've checked last night, when I was updating my 3G, the servo was very hot and locked. I'm thinking to switch all of them to 410 plastic geared.

I don't think the metal gears are the issue, it is the servos - well documented.

Do a google search. I think I saw them on Ebay over there fro $37 for a set of 3.

What is it with these servos and the 3g? Ive had sets on a pro v3 flybar(3rd set, crash em........REPLACE em) for almost 2 years now. NEVER had any failures.
Anyone tried any of the ds11 hyperions yet? Seems to me that the 3g sampling rates may be a little high and these servos may be burning out trying to compensate for a high frame rate corrective condition. Anyone try any TAIL servos on the 3g 450 size yet? These .........may........ be better suited to a correction frame rate and may last longer. Its what I wopuld do if I had a 3g pro. (I do.........its just not installed yet) lol Hope this helps a bit. |

The 410s seem to burn out for no reason on non 3G setups also - happened on my 250 and there are several threads on the 450 and 450 Pro forums documenting many failures. I guess it is just hit and miss with the 410s.

Odd, I had a 410M burn out exactly the same way during my 2.1 upgrade when setting up the manual configuration. No binding nor hitting end points. Probably the luck of the draw, but luckier than failing in the air. I will be subsituting Futaba S3156 servos.
The other bad news, My AR6200 receiver got recalled. A double whammy. Waiting for the S3156s to get back in stock and no AR6200 replacement until August. At least I have an AR6200 lying around. |

Make sure your not flying with any type of oscillation. Flying with even a minute oscillation beats the crap out of servo's. May not be realted to people failures but its a good thing for people who are new to flybarless to keep in mind.
Never flown the 410's on a 3G but they behave nicely with the SK360 on my 450 & with my flybarred 250's.

I had the same thing happen on Tuesday. Everything was fine on Monday and I upgraded to 2.1v on Tuesday. Finished the upgrade and noticed the elevator servo quit. I found a replacement at the LHS. It's put back together and ready for test flight tonight.

I just had issues with my 410m where - without crashing mind you - they started to bind up and get a bit crunchy when moving the arms manually. Opened them up and thought fixed them then the other day they locked up an took me down. Opened up again and found the shafts inside were bending. Bent them back and they're nice ans smooth w no binding, but I don't trust them flying. I don't think they can handle the torque. I have the plastic gear 410's in my 250 and NEVER had issues.
In good concience can't sell them.... Ugh. |
