Default 425 FRP Canopy (plastic version)

Hey all, I just recently switched to the 425 FRP canopy only to find that my current battery mount will not work with this canopy. I currently use a turnigy 2650 mounted on the bottom of the tray with the g10 adapter. Using the stock plastic canopy I had no problems with the fit, now with the new FRP canopy I can't fit it over the battery. I even tried mounting two 3s 2200's over and under and this new canopy will still not fit over them. I've seen a few different ideas to try but thought I would get some "fresh" thoughts on the matter before I start cutting the plastic frame. Any thoughts are always appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure if you saw my post here;

That is the stock plastic canopy on it in the pic, but, I also bought the Gaui FRP canopy, part # 204166 for a spare. I just took it out of the box and tried it on the same heli and it fits fine. I just haven't used it cause I figured I will wait till the plastic one gets crashed.

Spootman, which lipo do you have ?
I have a turnigy 2450 6S 30C ( Pack Size: 140 x 43 x 33mm ) and it fits with plastic canopy (204160, the one for 550).
Do you have my same Lipo ?

Thanks for the replies, I did see your post, just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask again before I start disecting. I'm using the Turnigy 2650 6s 20c's. With the stock plastic canopy I had no problems fitting over the batteries, but the FRP canopy appears to be smaller. I would compare the two but my plastic canopy is missing more than a few pieces.

I wonder who is making the FRP canopy for GAUI? I've heard these issues before and it's amazing to me that the FRP canopy is not the same size as the plastic canopy. I guess I'll be doing JerryMac's mods before buying the FRP canopy.

I sent a message to EmpireRC asking about the difference between the plastic and carbon frame canopies. I was thinking maybe I got one that was put in the wrong box. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I would imagine they are probably busy with IRCHA being right around the corner. Does anybody know the actual difference between the two canopies, besides the obvious that one is for the plastic frame and the other is for the carbon frame?

Well, I just tried cutting the frame to get the canopy to work but it's still too small. I don't understand why a stock canopy will not work?

I have just received a fiberglass canopy, the same part number you mention and it fits ok but I have noticed I will have to drill a new hole down the bottom closer to the edge of the canopy to have it fit ok with certain lipos. I suspect that this was not a problem on the original plastic canopy because it had no pre drilled hole so I drilled it where it worked best in the first place.
