I dont understand? I corrected with the links but its hard. It always drifts differently when I fly a little and then hover. Can anyone explain why it banks that hard with the swash plate leveled? Pinpiont gyro and acceleros should easily keep it steady and in heading hold.

It simply banks to forward, then I correct to steady hover and it will bank again. Then I fly a little and hover, now it banks backwards. Its not holding at all.

If I bank the heli to the right at an angle I expect it to keep that angle but its constantly accererating just like a flybar even with 130 decay. On the goblin we even tried 100, still same problem.

If on my vbar I level everything and randomly adjust a linkage by 2 or 3 turns it even holds hover. Thats why we have the gyro.

It also drifts during tic tocs. Constantly doing something Im not doing.

My heli on vbar has a vib score of 92. Even most logo600 guys dont get it that good. I balance everything. Heres a screen from the vibs during tic tocs or hard stop.

=] not clear on what you are doing? this is a straight forwards adjustment, when set is left alone and doesn't change itself.

make sure there are NO active Tx trims in ANY OF the flight modes, allow the unit to initialise and read your stick centres, that's it! trim from there.

Did that all day! Drift drift drift. Not flying like a fbl at all. For the best and most modern gyros I don't understand this.

50,haven't tweaked it yet. Heli is unflyable.

Why if I tilt the heli the swash countracts the movement but after 1 sec it levels again. That shouldn't happen.

No I haven't. Like I said it's not behaving at all like a fbl unit and I Googled the problem and there are more.

2 units at our field, exact same problem. Setup by 2 different persons and not even the best 3d pilot at our field can fly it well it is not holding. It imitates a flybar.

Put decay to 130. Heli stil drifts. It isn't holding and it accelerates in the drift direction. This can't be because of leveling. The gyro should correct the drift. If I do a punch out and come back tail in it will bank also in stead of holding heading.

I indeed notice after some minor flying (not inverted) the drift is worse.

Something is really wrong then. Like I said, it should be behaving better than that even with a bad setup. Maybe get some logs for Art to take a look at if you haven't already.

I know its a pain, but you may want to start fresh with a new model memory just to make sure there isn't something wacky going on with trim settings in your current setup.

All level mid - low and high. In my opinion even without adjusting links it should not bank.

The other unit is a 540. Exact same problem.

I only have vib logs and 1 playback log I posted earlier. In which you even clearly can see the drift when you playback. If you look at my sticks you can see I'm not doing anything.

my 540 didn't need any trimming. my BE needed one turn on the aileron links, it's not like the V-bar optimiser system, I just can't imagine what is going on? can you disable the auto trim and use Tx trims, but these will need to be re-centred before every flight, as a test.

Should I make a vid of the drift and also a vid showing my swash is perfectly level? Watch the skv file again. You can see the problem clearly.

It's the unit, not me. I'm very precise in setting up my helis.

=] drift is linkage related, trying to balance every law of physics that applies to a helicopter, to hold a stable hover. That's one thing in its own right, a swash is never level in these circumstances, it can't be. Optimisers can make internal adjustments to account for this disparity, this is internal mixing, the swash is Not level! it's trimmed.

You are flying in main gyro mode, as is the 540 pilot, and you both cant trim a hover? This makes little sense to me, by all means post a vid up, I was looking for constant corrections in your log and didn't notice much, if any. But that is a calculated best guess of what the heli is doing.

If I knew of any BE or 540 shortcomings, believe me I don't muck around!! A fast piro should be pancake flat, that's a good sign the swash is correct.

What doesn't make sense to me is you don't see my heli drifting and banking in my playback file. Look again.

This is stugling to hover in one place. Look at the stick inputs needed to counteract the drift.
If I don't the heli moves faster and faster to the banked orientation.

I had the same sort of problem and it turned out the my cyclic gain was too low, just a thought but it sounds like exactly what you are describing , like flying on a knife edge falling off to either side unpredictably

=] will look again, ipad here now. I noticed a tail wag at some point but that was it. Everything is fixed, the gyro knows where it is in space, this doesn't alter? Don't get it?

I will wait until tomorrow for an answer from skookum. Maybe if I have time I will make a vid on the field if weather allows. Then convert back and sell the unit for a bargain. I really expected more for this price.

Ps. There was never any tail drift.

+1 I had the same issue on my 540 when I decided to play with the gains. Stck 3D setup and my heli is perfect. Adjusted tail gains but never had to adjust cyclic gains.
