Default ir comp & p gain what does it do ?

Hi guys,
Was running on auto timing. Kosmik 160 shut down during a hard flight on 14s. The scorp 4530 450kv was very hot. Will try fix timing at 8 set ir comp & p gain to 7 & see what happens.

Thanks

IR comp is to be set at the value of the motors internal resistance. For a HK4530 is 10

Set the IR comp to 10
Increasing the P gain will probably increase the demand on the ESC and motor and decreasing will reduce the demand. Probably best to leave the P gain at 4 (if that is where it is now) for now. I would not change too many things at once. Scorps run hot. You will need to increase the P gain if your gearing is good and RPM control is not good.

BTW how do you manually set the timing on a Kosmik?

With regards to the shutdown, best to look at the logs to see what amps, PWM, voltage sag, temp you had at the time of the shutdown.
Also the soldering of the connectors may need to be reviewed.

You need a Prodisk or ProgUnit.

I have a progdisk. I also have the BT module. I tried with the BT module but could not find it in there while at the field.
I will have to have a look with the progdisk then.
Thanks

+1, great advice.

Also, if you start playing with the fixed timing, start higher and work your way down to find the spot where you get the most power while avoiding the shutdowns. Assuming you are comfortable with the chances of a few more shutdowns on the tuning road though. Maybe start at fixed 20, then fixed 15 if that doesn't work.

Hi Guys
Not shut down today. Esc is just warm to touch motor much cooler. Set timing via progdisc. One thing that's obvious is that its not as powerful
as before. Shall I increase time to 10 test & then 12 ? What do I look out for if ir comp & p gain is not set appropriately ?

Thks

I would never set ir comp higher than your motors resistance and if the p gain is too low you will see overly spikey pwm graphs in the logs.

Hi Richard
Question, the rm in the specs for this motor states 0.0130 ohms.
What figures should I use for ir comp & p gain ?

Many thanks

Ri comp can go to 13 and p gain between 5-7 check logs to confirm though
