Default N5C Header Tank

Hey, I`m looking to install a header tank on my N5C. Does anyone have ideas on how to mount it?

Zoom in on this pic and you can see where I put mine. Just put a small standoff there with a long bolt. It goes through an existing hole to a frame spacer on mine.

Thanks Eury. For some reason I had the mindset that the header tank needed to be beside the other tank, but there is no reason that I see. That looks like it will work fine. Thanks again, Bill.

How many flights do you get out of a gallon with the n5?

Hard to say, Probably 10-12, but I mix it up with the N7 so hard to say for sure.

N5c has a 14oz tank. So if you run it dry, about 9.5 tanks per gallon. Most of us don't run it truly dry so 10 is pretty close maybe 11 if you leave a measurable amount in the tank.

Really, that's all? Since you get 6-7 flights per gallon on the N7 I would have guessed at least 12 if not more. With that 14oz tank what kind of flight time are people getting for 3d?

If you land before its dry your leaving 3-5 oz in the tank so yeah 12 would be easy. I am tough on my n5c I tend to get into the flight and run it dry lol

6 minutes easy. 7 if your easy on the collective.

The more important question is how many flights do you get in a row without having to maintain the n5c.

I've been flying it since late 2014/early 2015 and other than swapping out the engine haven't maintained it at all beyond checking that bolts are tight, wiping crap off the blades and oil from the airframe. Had 1 crash that bent the boom, spindle, and broke the blades. At that point I changed to the FBL Rotors dampers for fun. Other than that it was my only nitro until early this year and I burned 6 cases of fuel or so through it.

In other words, I replaced more stuff on my Goblin 700 Comp from wear in less than 100 flights flights than I have put into my N5c in 200+.

That is the same story I would tell. It's basically fill and fly, as long as your motor is good.

THis past winter I had an unbelievable run with my n5c belted. There is no maintenance on the bird.

I can get 400-500 flights before I need to address something. typically a crash is what causes me to dig into it, not time.

The point is I am looking for a smaller nitro that gets more tanks out of a gallon to accompany the N7. I like to fly a lot and will go broke purely flying the N7. I am thinking about the Nx4 stretched to a Nx5 with a Ys 60 in it. I know the tank on the Nx4 is a lot smaller.

If I had to get rid of everything and only keep one heli, my N5c would be the one that stays. That's out of N7, Protos Max V2, Goblin 380, X3, and DT520. Out of all the helis I've owned in the last few years, my N5c is my favorite. I don't have any NX4 experience, but I don't see how it could be a better choice than the N5c. You already have and love your N7, the N5c is very similar, even size wise it's not hugely different.

true, but the motor drinks more than a 55 does. your flights will be very short. 2.5 min prob. just get an n5c and run a 55 with 22% byrons and you will enjoy more flying on a gallon.
