Default co pilot II

I purchased a co pilot II with everything but the HD and I am not sure if it will work for me with the helicopter I have. I have a skyartec wasp x3v and I am just learning to hover so I bought the co pilot to help me learn but after reading this forum I have some concerns and questions almost everywhere I will fly is surrounded by homes or trees. Even the Utah helicopter association club field is surrounded by trees. I have some fear about hovering high before I turn on the co pilot so I don't know if I should return it before I open it so that it won't be damaged or try it and if it doesn't work for me have to sell it here or on ebay which would cost me some. Thanks Jack

There are many more wrong ways to do things than there are right ones, let me start with the right ones here:
  • CP2 will fly with the trees in view with no problem, as long as they're ~20m away or more
  • Buildings have to be even further away, a single family house completely disappears from CP2 view @ 40-50m based on my non-scientific observations.
That said you haven't done your homework, so it'll cost you now. You know, it's got to cost you either time or money, and typically it's a combination of both:
  • Your heli has a prioprietary 2-in-1 Rx/fbl unit, so there is nowhere to connect CP2 to. It should be wired between the Rx and fbl unit, so you need Rx/fbl unit to be separate devices rather than to be integrated into one unit.
  • Even if you had separate Rx and fbl unit, this is still a 250 sized heli, I don't think it feasible to mount the CP2 hardware (even in minimalist configuration) on a 250. 450 would be a minimum size to mount a full CP2 system IMHO. Who knows, maybe a minimum system could be fit on a 300, but a 250? No way.

Hey that's what we're here for. It's an overwhelming mess when you're just beginning. Glad to be able to help.
