How can I design and make a canopy?

My current project is to put an OS GT15HZ gas engine into Blitz Avro airframe.

I'd really like to design my own canopy. Something like the style of a Diablo or TDR canopy should do nicely

Just wondering on how to approach the task.

I have a home made CNC router that works better than I was hoping for. So one strategy is to draw up the canopy in 3D (that would be a new process for me and I would have to source software and learn how to use it) and get the software to section it very finely down its length - a bit like slicing a loaf a bread. I could then use my router to cut these individual sections. The assembled pieces, with some final finishing, would then become a mold so the fibreglass work could begin.

Any advice or tips would be gratefully appreciated.

If you have a cad system you can develop a 3D model from a 3 view drawing inserted into the system and loft the surfaces. Then once the model is developed you can machine each half from the model and then make a plug to lay up the mold with. The other way is to do it by eye and hand.
