Do you mean - 108 throttle ATV or on the slider in gov II?

Motor OFF slider in Governor II
But do not set "-108" without checking, Its "Lowest value without delay when going out of hold" you want.

If you get a delay, raise it.

@ Frederic:
many thanks for your quick reply.
In fact my query refers to a statement from Joe 1 at the YGE forum
Thread called "YGE Gov vbar setings?" page 2 dated 02 feb , 05.01 pm

Basically he's saying that extendeding throttle ATV gives more resolution.

Would you agree with his procedure??

It has nothing to do with the resolution really (or rather, its not my point here),

The VBar JUMPS when it starts on the throttle signal from X -> Y
If Y is too high = harsh start.

You want Y to be as low as possible but without delay, if you get it too low it will not be good.
See my Electric Governor Remake video if you want more details.

Mine is also set at -108 and is a very acceptable soft start.

Good points, i'm going to recheck mine again tonight to verify. When I originally did it I wasn't really watching the numbers, just moving the sliders until I got what I thought was no delay.

OK Fredrik, just went back and rechecked my start up delay and the least amount of delay was actually at -95% anything higher and the motor would continue to idle. Went and rechecked that my throttle calibration was correct and it is. So any idea why we are seeing a discrepancy between the numbers? Seems like most are ending up where you did at -108%. I usually don't get too hung up on the actual numbers as long as it works, but I am curious.

BTW, I am running Spektrum. 104 on travel adjust with no subtrim. 100/0/-100 in the calibration screen.

he is talking about delay from the start point. like you hit th hold off(motor runs). it shouldnt have a pause before starting to spin.

I still think you do it wrong way (old way of calibrating) which was good for 5.1 but NOT 5.2

Please check 7:28 in this video

That is exactly how I did it, by using throttle hold. Anything lower and I was adding delay while flipping out of TH. At -108 the delay was very long.

Might be the endpoints that has been re-programmed.
Here is info from XX forum how to redo the ESC endpoint programming if needed.

Quote:
This is a procedure to discover accidentially manipulated endpoints and to set them right again:

How the problem can be discovered:
The value of the preset channel climbs up after turning the motor on. Preset RPM should be set to more than 1200 1/min
ESC is connected with the RX cable to the right port according to the settings in GOV1
The yellow LED on the YGE ESC doesn't flicker altough it should do so during the throttle output to the ESC climbs up

LED coditions:
LED on = motor off
LED flickers = motor running in idle
LED off = motor at full throttle

If the LED show motor off or turns to idle very late do as follows:
Umount all blades
Power up Vbar with a external RC power source
Flight battery is NOT connected to the ESC!
After init go to GOV2
Set the collective stick on TX to full positive
Activate the collective control in GOV2
Connect flight battery
As soon as the "beeps" can be herared from the YGE set collective stick to full negative
Wait until all tones went through (silence)
The esc is now armed and the settings can be checked with the collective stick.
If the motor turns on after a small stick movement everything is ok.
