Default Servo recommendations?

I'm most likely getting a Fury 55 very soon, and have no idea what servos to get for it.
I can either go cheap and get Align/Savox servos all around, or I can dish out a little more and get some nicer servos. What do you think? Will Align servos suffice for a .55 sized nitro? Do I really need expensive servos?

If I really need better servos... recommendations for throttle, rudder, and cyclic servos please?

Jmdanna,

I currently run align DS610's on cyclic and Throttle, and Futaba BLS251 on Tail (Fury 55). I fly 3D, Hurricans, funnels as fast as I can go. No issues to report. It's really up to you. I have heard that MKS servos are nice, however, a little more expensive. If you plan on purchasing more expensive servos, look at it as an investment. Plus if you ever have to sell them down the road they will have better resell value.

I'm thinking of doing that same thing. 610s on throttle and cyclic. And then get a nicer tail servo. What voltage do you run the servos at? I'm thinking of running unregulated on a 2s lipo.

Align 2n1=5.8V Plenty for my style. I Run TORQ, and futaba HV servos in my other birds. You definatly would save some money going align 610s, make sure you get a good tail servo. By the way, once setup, you are going to love this machine. Low parts count, very locked in. Good luck.

Yeah I'm definitely going with the 610s... I am also most likely going with the Savox SA-2272MG for the tail. Its an HV servo and super fast and strong. I'm now thinking I will probably regulate at 7.4v. We'll see.
Yes, this machine looks amazing, I really can't wait.. Thanks

I scored an amazing deal on Spektrum H6040 servos for my Fury 55. Has anyone used these before on any heli? I will be running them at 6v. And I also changed my mind to get a Futaba BLS251 for the tail servo. I will have to use a step-down regulator for that to bring it down to 5.1v. For throttle I will be using a Savox 1290MG, also at 6v.

H6040's and a 6080G on the tail. They are comparable to the 610's. Good servos

Do you think they are a little better or worse than the 610s and 650? I would hope they would be better for the higher price tag...

Many choices for Servos. Many of our team pilots fly MKS HBL950 servos for cyclic and 980 for tails.

In the end, you can go with any brand, I like HV servos so you can run a 2s lipo straight, LIfe works also for 6V setups, but I prefer the familiarity of lipo.

Get whichever ones are cheaper. I own and use both on different birds. Cannot tell the difference. Both high quality.
