Default Sooo...idler pulley froze...run without ok?

So my mini protos was in the air doing a great job and then lost power and fell to ground. Idler puller bearing by pinion appears to have frozen and warped it's housing out of round so it's unusable.

I tightened belt up to test everything prior to ordering parts (see if anything bent in crash). Smooth as butter on table.

I flew one pack this way....lightly. Seemed ok. Question is, outside obvious reduced teeth contact, how does the bird fair without this part?

I've got one on order, but wanted to know if anyone had experience flying their bird without one....you know...just to satisfy itch while awaiting new one.

very likely that the belt will slip and get damaged.

More then likely another crash is imminent. I would not fly it.
WHen you get new pulleys, I pack red grease in between bearings for longer life,
I would do this and install all new pulleys, and keep old 1s for spares. On occasion they will get lost in a crash. Also, if pulley froze, need to check it's mount bkt, it can get deformed also.

Thanks for grounding me guys . I needed that probably. My mini protos thanks you

Guess the Protos 500 is only one getting love for a few days.

As for the bracket...yes it was definitely toasted also. Thats what caused the crash. Bearing froze so it bored out the top of the bracket and turned itself crooked thereby binding the belt up and causing the fall. I ordered the CNC one from Lynx to replace it in both my mini and my 500.
