Productive night!

After being depressed over Pacquiao losing, I decided it was high time I hit the antenna tracker.

I ripped out the ImmerisonRC tracker and hooked up my servo's to the EagleEyes tracker.
Using the Vector ground station program on my SP3 to program the servo's were simple as can be.
Now it's all ready to test!

Going to take the QAV250 out as soon as the sun comes out for her first fpv action!

So my mate wanted practice at photographing fast moving targets by hand. How he got this I will never know. This is what he just told me to tell you about the photo. Means nothing to me.

"Taken at twilight tonight, struggled with the light, the wind, the rain and the speed of the bloody thing, hence I'm chuffed to get shots like this one. D7000, 70-200@200mm, 1/500s, f/2.8, iso-800, spot metering af-c, bb focusing. cc welcome."

Boy was it windy. Collective control was a nightmare. Really really gusty.

I don't know if the quality will be retained with the upload, but on my PC I can see the threads on a self tapping screw holding the tail servo in.

Can't get my head round it, I was flying past at about 20 mph.

Cheers

Sutty
EDIT: Nope. All the quality has gone. Won't leave it alone. Changed the image to a tiny file during upload. Boooo.

Too bad about the upload. Looks like a hell of a good shot!

Always hard to get great shots of models flying. So hard to do by yourself when wearing goggles.

You went out today

I'm not getting that clarity through my iPhone, but it's ok when I hold it at distance and squint my eyes joking of course!! Looks good, even on an iPhone

Hoping I'll make the fun fly at the club this weekend!! Not sure if I'll take the 600, or just take the 450, keep it simple and just enjoy flying?? More tempted to do that than take the 600 as I'd be setting up stall in the marquee again! If I need to remind u what happened last time

Ha, yes, I should have known better, it was too gusty really.

Anyway, he sent me a link to try for the full file, if anyone cares to check it out.

Link

Cheers

Crap!

What the hell am I going to do now?

The endless to-do list,,, it's done!

Not too sure how it happened, but the last thing was to get the f330 up and flying with the cc3d. Just put that puppy to bed.

The vid is the first flight with the cc3d. No adjustments done yet, and don't see any need to do any afterward.
Damn impressive, this cc3d!

f330 cc3d (1 min 10 sec)

Ah, spring time in the Rockies,,, got to love it!

Weather is too f'd up to fly and all the projects are done.
I'm bored already!

Guess I should spend some time going over my camping gear. The Hartsel trip is coming up next month. Might as well make sure I'll be comfortable.

I didn't know that was possible. Unless I'm on a proper spring matress I'm always in discomfort.

Hope the weather's nice though.

Frigging weather!
Got off work this morning to find 3 inches of snow on the car!

Hopefully, I can fly tomorrow? The weather is supposed to straighten out for 2 days and then get shitty again.
I'm just dying to get out.

I hear ya Tom. 8 days in a row of rain then snow... I got out to do lawns between downpours but have not managed to get the heli out.

Well I just ordered another MX2 EPP 3D plank to replace the old frame which is toast. I also had to get a replacement motor and ordered 3x 3s1500 nano techs for proper CG and no lead. This will now be my birthday present to myself cause I miss flying the 3D plank. It is so fun.

Happy b/day, mf! Whenever it is.

Today, first break in the weather, I tried to try out the ground tracker station in an actual test, but failed.
Not due to one of my numerous f### up's, but because I left my radio at home!
Fortunately, it was at the entrance of my housing development so not so bad.
But, it was cold, so I folded up the opportunity. Go figure?

However, not giving up and showing forward thinking, ( at this stage of my life, I'm pretty proud of ), I brought along the f330 with the cc3d.
Only to discover one motor crapped out! Confirmed later.
Do you have any idea how much a replacement Gaul/Scorpion replacement motor cost, ( remember, these motors are from my original Gaul x330 )? $60 friggin dollars!
This is going on the back burner for a few months.
I just spent for 3 2200mah 3s and a 5k something 3s nano-tec's to finish off my needs for the up-coming fpv meet.

Did have a pit of luck come my way during the tracking station test.

I got a brilliant idea for my ground station, and it panned out just fine.
My Ranger and the QAV both run 1.3. My AIO goggles are 5.8.
To my ground station I added a 5.8 tx so I can be unteathered.
My Zeiss goggles tie me down, which is fine for the Ranger where flights are a half hour or better. I got a very nice chair for that.
The QAV only has 6 minutes, so I thought it would be nice to be walking about.
The tx only cost me $18 plus free shipping.
I can't see any degradation of signal, so that made me happy as hell!

Well, Shazbat! My GoPro is acting up,,, again. Best to find out now, I suppose.

Took the Ranger and the qav to the soccer fields bright and early.
Took the Ranger for it's first true fpv flight! Wow, was that fun!
Went into failsafe once, a few miles out. The Ruby performed flawless. Took control over and flew herself home! Went onto loiter overhead and waited for me to take off the goggles and find her in a very dark overcast sky.

At that time I was flying with my AIO goggles, so with her loitering overhead I took the time to switch over to my Zeiss Cinemizer goggles, this being the first time I have really tried out these goggles for fpv.
Wholly crap! Totally blew my mind!

The picture was so clear! Nice thing is I don't need to wear my glasses underneath like I do under my AIO's.

So, I flip the mode switch to exit rth/loiter and take her for a nice long 18 minute ride around the country side. I was thoroughly enraptured by the time I landed.

Next, I flew the qav line of sight, but I did a pretty good job of you pushing her around. Going to take some getting used to her. Damn, she's tiny! Of course, that isn't an issue under the goggles. Got plenty of battery's along.

Took the Ranger back up again, but I was hearing car doors close behind me in the parking lot, so I put her loiter so I can take a look and see they are unloading soccer gear.
Decided to abort the flight and surrender their field to them.

So, I'm pretty bummed about my GP woes.

Sounds like you had a great time! Sports always clog up the parks gotta go early or late.

Well while setting up the MX2 I discovered that my rudder servo is missing 1 tooth and jitters in spots. Ive ordered another so slight delay in plans for a maiden.
