I do not want 550, it flies well on 520 and is easier to fly smack 3D (it is more agile). 550 also is more power requiring and I don't want to destroy my batteries it's only 2.9kg so it is light enough to keep it on 520. 520 are also cheaper

If tou havent tried 550 blades , you will love it. More stable then 520's.
very hot doesn't mean overheated. Motors can take quite a bit of heat without ANY issues. Certainly they can get hot enough to cause lasting burns on your hands without taking any damage.

ESC came down barely warm (-:

16KHz PWM, 15 Timing. Going from 32KHz to 16KHz seems to have made a huge difference.

hmm well.. no complains if you are happy. yes on midland heli teh price difference is not much on 520's vs 550.

i am rebuilding my kit . will test again on 520's and see how it goes. but my HS is not anywhere near your HS at 80% flat. would be 90-95% on my tx.

thanks for the info. yes my motor do come extremely hot most of the time and esc warm. so may be bogging reason could be worn bearings causing more friction...who knows....!

You may already have, but tell me your entire setup again. Gearing, electronics, FBL, etc.

I have the opposite issue. My 730mx and 100a v3 esc come down barely warm on my 550, even on hot summer days. It just doesn't have as much power as I want. I'll have to check my pwm and timing..

My batteries though, they hate the 550. They come down quite warm

Set 16KHz and 15 Timing. No power problems on 550L and HW gov

Not sure why you got the HV version? The 6s version is way cheaper and has a built in BEC..

Default Hobbywing platinum 100a v3 for trex 550. Anyone using it.

I'm watching this trade for couple days and I have a question I have HW 100 HV and Scorpio 4035 630 KV I want to ask what is the best timing and PWM according to my mother I need to set up the timing to 5° and Pwm to 8 kHz what you think?

Most motors work great at 8KHz, and that's what Scorpion are said to do best at. Some motors work better at slightly higher, others lower. Usually PWM has the biggest effect on ESC temp, usually the motor isn't affected all that much (although theoretically, motors will run *slightly* more efficiently at higher PWM rates, whether or not it's true in practice who knows). Timing in my experience is where you'll see the biggest changes in motor temps.

ESC came down barely warm... I was actually really surprised. Battery was quite toasty lol. Gonna puff these things before I even get to use them in my Protos.

Go with recommended settings and see where they take you. If the ESC is hot, try running lower PWM. The motor is a scorch-pion so it'll probably get hot anyway (-:

Liked!!

i think main difference in my setup now is life 2s battery(weight). i tthink the throttle % on tx varies from tx to tx because my tx 85% flat throttle gives 30% less rpms then your 85%.
by the way dont use heli option gimbal swash. one of teh balls came out of mine during flight causing $130+ crash. and heli option wont reply a single word about it lol on their fb page.

Hey bro can tou pls share you 550dfc flying weight as i think mine could be possibly heavy with a life battery , so as to cause severe motor bogging during rainbows....will check mine and revert tomm .

I'm not Keith, but I run a 2000mah life pack on my 550v2. I don't see any bogging on tictocs with 550mm blades.
