Question Best motor for 550

I have a Pyro 600-11 but I just don't think it will be enough for mild to hard 3D. I'll most likely put that in my Compass Exo. Options seem to be:

1. Xnova 4020-1000
2. Xnova 4020-1200
3. Xnova 4025-1120 or 1200. This motor seems quite heavy though.

I will be shooting for a HS of 2200-2400. I won't know really until I fly it to find my sweet spot.

man I'm running the 4025 1200 and love it. I run a 2300 and 2400 HS and ended up pretty happy at 2300 using rail blades.

I let a buddy of mine try it out today and he was impressed with how similar it flies to the 700 diabolo. You will love it.

I may have misquoted the Xnova 4025-1200. I can't find this motor.

I use the Quantum 4125 1100kv motor. A little higher kV than the standard motor recommended for the Diabolo, which seems to be the 1000kV mark, but it is a great motor. I usually go around 2000RPM, or around there, can't recall exact headspeeds I put in the governor. It is a nice headspeed, not screaming, but not extremely low.C ollective management is not overly difficult, but flight times are great, with 5:30 as the timer, and I can go over 6 minutes. Truthfully, I wouldn't want a longer flight time.

scorpion 4225 fits, but heavy and you have to rewind it for 6S.

iīm running a 4220. itīs less weight than xnova 4020 and much more power.

unfortunately, scorpion donīt sell it. so you have to shorten a 42XX.

Depends on your target HS, KV is a bit low for the head speeds the OP was talking about.

Default Best motor for 550

Needing some info on motor set up for the Diabolo 550 I am building. I would like to use the X-NOVA 4020 1000KV (which Peak sells), that being said do I need the A shaft size? I would like to run head speed between 2000 and 2200 (I think) so what size pinion should I use? Thanks for any help!

Yes, A shaft works. Stock pinion (20 tooth) should work for that head speed.
