Default My Nano is making me STUPID!

This last weekend while flying my nano I decided to try a piro-flip with my eyes closed to see how good I could do just on muscle memory.

I crashed into my arm before I could get my eyes open to see how I did. I thought I was done doing stupid stuff like that when I got out of high school. Guess not...

To quote the great philosopher Forrest Gump "Stupid is as stupid does".

What type of damage was inflicted? Curious because I am considering a nano to fly around the house, but am still not fully comfortable with CP. I can do basic circuits with my CP Pro outdoors, but hearing that high head speed still gets my heart thumping a little nervously. I have flown an MSR indoors, and hovered my CP.

It hit me on the bare forearm and almost left a mark and did sting a little. I've hit myself on the hand before and the blade scraped my knuckle, it did bleed ever so slightly. These were both at 100% from the stock brushed motor, I'm sure a BL mod could do more damage.

I've also had the neighbor's car attack my nano and take it out of the sky! No damage to the cat or nano. I think the cat has developed a taste for nano blood though, when he hears me and comes running over for another stealth attack! (I'm very tempted to let him get it again on video but I worry he might get hurt or worse run off with my nano as his prize!)

I suggest always wearing glasses of some kind, if nothing else just some cheap clear safety glasses.

Oh, thank hank I'm not the only one! I'd get careless once in a while, and try to let my nanos sneak past behind me, without facing them . . .

I've been smacked in the chest, gut, and forearms more than a few times, and I agree on how it feels. I'd describe it as getting thwapped sharply by a plastic ruler; it does sting for a little bit, but any red marks made disappear in 15 mins or so.

They haven't drawn blood - yet . . .

@ RobO - funny you should mention a cat; my cat's smart, and quickly trots to the bedroom if I hover over her, and will go under the bed if I chase her. My neighbor's cat, however, is almost the same as you described. She will stay near me, and watch my helis fly with great intent, and wait for me to either hover low enough for her to pounce and jump at it, or do a blitz attack at them when I'd crash in the grass.

LOL - I wonder if anyone has lost a nano to a cat yet!

We should start a poll to see how many have crashed into their body with a nano, I know I've done it 3 or 4 times and I've never crashed into myself with any big heli!

I crashed into my arm the second flight after buying the little guy. My wife just shook her head, gave me that "Smooth move, dumb-a$$" look I sometimes get and walked out of the living room.

If it's not too late to edit your 1st entry in this thread, I'd say go for it and do the poll!

And, not to stray off the beaten path, but I caught my cat YumYum, drinking my iced tea (again) this afternoon!

At first my brain read this as, "I wonder if anyone has lost a cat to a nano yet!" My semi-shocked re-read cleared up the confusion.

Got myself in the neck with my nano left a welt. On my mcpx and my 130 I dodge or jump out if the way or keep them farther away.

Okay guys

I was test-flying my newer nCP X, with my patio sliding glass door open just a bit, and the breeze whooshed my heli right into my face . . . .

They do draw blood! Can anyone say fat lip? lol

I've hit myself in the chest, and on my hand. It just stung for a little while on my hand, and in the chest it was just a shock!

If I were you, when people ask about your lip I'd say "Got in a barfight!".

That sounds much more manly than "My little tiny toy helicopter hit me in the lip..."

LOL!

" . . . uh, yeah - you should see the other guy!"

I'd hate to get hit by a 130X now, never mind anything larger!

I caught a blade just below my eye..flying hard 3d? Nope, hovering practice. In front of two co workers on break. They no longer attend my "flights"
On a good note, my dog loves my helis. She will chase them around, and if I crash, she'll run up to it, sit down, and just look at it, then look at me. I'll never lose one with her around..
