I am using a Logo 500 canopy for exactly that reaon. With that you have plenty of room to balance the CG with your Battery

That's good to know, thanks. Do you have any pictures of yours with the logo canopy?

I would prefer my battery stay protected in the frame in the event of a crash.

It's alot cheaper to replace the canopy then it would be the battery.

Cheers Keith

That would be ideal, but there is no way you're going to get the CG correct with the battery fully inside the frame unless you add nose weight. Personally, I would not add nose weight, just slide the pack out until it balances. Adding dead weight to a flying machine just goes against my nature.

And to be honest, unless you're using overpriced name brand packs, a canopy isn't that much cheaper!

+1 on this .... make sure you find your CG before doing your canopy holes. This way you dont have to fight with it ...

Thanks, again. Looks like an excellent build thread as well, which will be very helpful. Much appreciated.

Decided to try an keep the weight of the innova 550 down as well. So I decided I would also go with a logo 500 style canopy! Sent fusuno a message with my ideas and the canopy is now being custom made for me!! Will post pics once i recieve it!

Cheers Keith

sounds ineresting - how much is it to have them custom make a canopy ?
I assume they will use the regular Logo 500 mold and it is "just" the painting that is custom made - right?

Familyman67 it will be the regular Logo 500 mold painted up with the Innova graphics.

The cost to have it made was shockingly not to bad. Price for this canopy is $54.95 us

dollars and $30 to have it shipped.

I found the shipping cost a little high but considering they are only charging me $10 extra for all the custom work I was extremely happy.

Cheers Keith

Thanks - that really sounds very interesting - I guess I'll have them do one for me as well in the near future

Default Re: What size batteries for a KDS 550

Gens Ace 4800 or 5000 fit perfectly with good cg.

I would go for the highest c rating u can afford, 6cell setups draw alot of amps, higher c rating will give you the more cycles

Kiwidan

Those will fit just fine in the 550
I personally will never order batteries from hobbyking again due to a bad experience I had with them.
Make sure you check yours as soon as they arrive to make sure the cells are good.
