Default Charging at 2c ??

Hi guys
It may be a dumb question BUT a lot of people talk about charging at 2 c
I have a small charger that will push 5amps and charging 2200 mah batteries
Do I have to charge at 4.4amps or can I charge at 5amps
Do you have to double or triple your charge rate or can you charge at any amps ??
Sorry if it is a silly question but everybody talks about 2 3 or 4c
Thanks for any response
Cheers watho

Q: How can I determine how many amps my battery can be charged at?

A: To determine how many amps you can safely charge a battery, a little math is in order. We will use a simple formula to determine charge rates - divide the "mah" of the battery by 1,000 (let's say a 2200mah battery), which comes to 2200 / 1,000 = 2.2. Now, multiply it against the "charge" rating of the battery, which in this case is 1C – 2.2 x 1 = 2.2. So, if we have a 2200mah 1C battery (2200 divided by 1,000 = 2.2), we have 2.2 as our base number, which we then multiply against the charge rating of "1C" which gives us a number of 2.2 – (2.2 x 1 = 2.2). What this means is that at a 1C rating, a 2200mah battery is capable of being charged at 2.2A amps of power.

BTW, I just copied this from Pulse Battery Q&A.

First check to see what the manufacturer says the maximum charge rate is.

No it does not have to be multiples. Let’s say your 2200 mah battery can be charged at up to 3c that is 6.6A. You can charge it any amp rate up to 6.6A. example you can charge at 1A / 3A / 4.5A / 5.7A etc

Also note your charger has a wattage limit it may hit before it reaches the full 5 amps. For example a 50 watt charger will only be able to deliver about 4 amps. The actual rate will be higher at the start of the charge, but go down as the charge progresses. To sustain a 2c charge on 2200 pack, the charger will need to deliver 56 watts.
