Here is my new HK600GT after my first 2 minute hover. Included in the build:
Turnigy Typhoon 600H brushless motor w/13t pinion
Turnigy K-Force 150A brushless ESC
BMS 621MG servos (3)
BMS 661MG tail servo
HK401B HH gyro
RotorTech 610mm night blades
LED navigation light kit
5000maH 6S 30C lipo's
Castle 10A BEC
Align upgrades include main gear drive, tail gear drive, and canopy.
She flew steady in its first hover, no tail wag, just got to get the swash level. Overall, I'm in awe of the looks!!!

That is a sharp looking Heli! Im building a HK450. would i be wise to jump to a 600. Nevr flown a big one yet in real life. Only 120's and under. Did u do all the paint scheme work! Any suggestions? Thanks

I started out with a 400, then upgraded to 450, then 500, and now 600. If you're pretty good at flying why not go for the 600? The bigger they are, the easier they are to fly. Plus, the HK600GT is CHEAP! I purchased some red decals from HeliDirect and "prettied up" the helo. The canopy is the icing on the cake. I'm looking into fuselages, but for now, I like the look of this. I'm not into 3D yet, just sport flying.

Would you mind sharing what your total build cost was? I have often wondered if you save anything by building a clone.

I didn't save very much. With the additional "custom" items (lighted tail and rotor blades, canopy, etc.) I probably saved approx. $300.00 U.S. dollars. Plus, I got a 150A ESC instead of an 80A ESC with the Align TREX 600 kit. I look back and see the TREX 600 kit at $900.00 and I think twice about the HK600GT. But overall, I am completely satisfied with the buy. Plus, I don't think you can run a 6 channel rx and tx on the TREX 600, which I can on the HK600GT.

Having built both the align 600 and hk 600 from base kits i found that the hk is about 30% cheaper overall using the same components from hk if you go the all inclusive rout from align you initaly save but if you upgrade electronics/ servos etc better to start with the hk especially if you ultimatly want to go scale

Regarding your statement that I quoted above - for my rookie mind - would you please clarify this? I thought I understood channels, etc, but I am unclear on why there would be a difference between very similar helis.
