Finally managed to get out and blow off the cobwebs again. 4 packs done on the 450, and she was handling very nice. I was to my surprise not very rusty and felt quite relaxed in the sun. A good opportunity to go for it then! Admittedly it was not as sharp as before, but I was particularly happy with the inverted stuff in getting quite low, and doing both nose in and tail first circuits, rolls and flips, from inverted to inverted and many combinations inbetween. I did have a couple of moments but always had the orientation right, and was able to correct the dumb thumbing well. Like doing an inverted roll expecting it to go left and it went right!

I did rethreadlock my f.shaft before I went out as I could easily get half a turn on one of the screws. There still feels like a bit of slop in the blade grips, so going to look up the 450 forum and YT later, as I'm sure I've seen a vid of this problem before. Still it feels tight in a hover, but I'm sure it's having an effect on the tic-toks, or the point when there is little or no load on the blades. Just an excuse to get those last few bits before I can move onto the 600.

Tried to video it on my iPhone but kept getting memory full and then battery low messages. Best one I did just cutoff after 30 seconds so will try again next time.

I finally got around to the rebuild on the 450L myself! I upgraded the motor to the Rotor Star 4300kv 670W! I did a test hover this morning and I felt rusty after planking so much. Today is the first day of mowing season. I hope to go to the park and maiden afterwards!

Wholy schnikes! The new motor has power out the wazoo! I swung the 352mm energy blades(my favs) goved @3600RPM! I'm going to need a 10 pack of new britches if I keep that up!! Just some hovering pitch pumps and some line flying was the maiden. It was literaly 4mins land and then too dark to fly another pack. Tomorrow I'll go in the AM to fly it again.

I'm back in work every day until next time I have Jack, so it could be 3 weeks before I get another day off!! But, now the light nights and warmer weather are back, I'm hoping I'll get another chance to go out by end of the week.

I'm pulling the plug on the other 2 lipos that I got at the same time as the "fired" one. They all have had their day and I dont want another charge scare. I still have 4 packs newish from xmas.

Well, I officially declare the Ranger/Ruby programming to be done! Jim looked over the last file and liked what he saw. Me, I like how it flys.
Now to go find a place to do some serious range tests.

The Hexa flys like a dream! It's still my favorite acft.

QAV250 is ready to spend some quality goggle time with! Got some crappy weather the next couple days.

I'm about as ready for the flying season as I can be.

So, what could go wrong?
Well, seems my arthritis is catching up with me. They're talking.of resurfacing the bone on my right thumb, seeing how the steroid program really isn't working out.
Just going to have to wait and see.

Thats badass Tom! I cant remember the name but by Boulder is a nice spot. I pushed out a mile there w/the quad and had plenty of room to push farther. Excelent views there too. Let me see if I find out the name.

I think I might still have an E-Sky rate mode gyro around somewhere, from my original mark one Belt, circa 2008. So now it's worth more than it ever was in the past

Today I flew 7 packs after the rebuild yesterday. After crashing I realized pitch/ail balls were in a hole further than ELE servo. Stability sucked. DOH I stole the 2 servos from the FPV paper weight and just slapped em in.. dumb. The KST's have 1 downside they used RED threadlock on the servo case screws so my gear sets are rendered useless. They have taken several poundings unscathed usually snapping thearm off in hard impact.

I tried 362mm wide chord Vector blades @3600RPM... JUST PLAIN SCARES ME!! Im now goving 2950/3150/3350 and getting 4-4:30 flights which is in the best efficientcy range for my pinion. 3600 and FT is 3:30ish.

I went out and flew 4 packs came back charged em and went and flew 4 more! I felt a bit better on the sticks today and did some FFF circuts slow controled circuts and general farting around with the insane power. Im lovin the new motor! I also got the Vortex dialed in for each flight mode. Its a badass fother mucker now! Winds today were about 17-23mph gusts up to 40mph and the 450L just ate it up! I may try flipping again tomorrow to see how motor does.

Im heading out for round 2 w/450L. The wind is just WICKED today 20-30mph and 55mph gusts. The EVIL thing is constant rapid diretional fluxuations. The heli is still coping just fine though, my hat, not so much. lol Well Im off...

Well round 2 yesterday I flipped it! I was goved @3350RPM and the power was incredable! I dont think the motor even skipped a beat. I also upped the PWM from 14khz to 16khz which added a whole minute to flight times and keeps things cooler.(just above room temp after 4 packs back to back)
