Back when I used the horns that came with the TGY-211 servos, I used the first holes (the closest ones to the root); when doing that, I had trouble getting the blue light on the cyclic travel menu (L) of the AR7200BX, but that's OK. On menu L, the orange light is just a warning; you should always avoid the purple light and never fly with the black light (i.e. no light) on menu L. Regardless, with the Lynx frame I opted for the Align horns, instead.

For the TGY-212s, I'm using the servo horns that came with the servos; I'm using the little cross one and I simply cut off the other 3 arms on it. Here's a link to my 300X-A photo album which has a pic of the TGY-212 with the servo horn. You'll notice I put my tail servo on the left side - this is done to help offset the P factor of the rotor blades (assuming the heli will be flying forward more often than flying backwards). By definition, Lynx would have been better off sticking the elevator servo on the left side of the frame rather than the right - I'm not sure why they opted for the right side. On the other hand, I'm not sure what effect having the tail rotor on the right side has on the right leaning tendency of a clockwise spinning main rotor in forward flight. I'm sure DoubleCH could probably jump in and expound on this. Regardless, this is not important, but doing it satisfies my understanding (or lack thereof) of aerodynamics.

Edit: I cleaned up and re-worded this post. Tidiness, ftw.
Uriah, Is the Lynx frame worth the money? I not only like the carbon fiber but the new location of the servos as well.

The answer to that question is really subjective and will ultimately be determined by the type of flying you're doing. If you're not flying hardcore 3D at higher RPMs, than I don't think that the Lynx frame is worth the money. If you are flying higher RPMs and delving into the more advanced 3D, you will appreciate the better servo placement, bearing blocks, etc. But regardless, you will not appreciate the really, really poor canopy fit - the only canopies I've found so far that I consider ideal for the Lynx Ultra CF frame are in fact the stock plastic canopies, and even then I've extended the length of the holes for the grommets and reinforced the canopies with CA, washers, wire, and packing tape.

Very surprised to hear about the poor canopy fit. So the fiberglass canopies don't fit or need modding in order to fit?

I pulled the trigger this morning and purchased:
TGY-212 Tail Servo
YEP 40 ESC
Typhoon 450H 3550kV motor

I already had the Corona 919MGs, so we will see how they do.

Yes. Even the Lynx canopies are not an easy fit for the frame. I moved the mounting holes back about 5mm and down about 2mm just so the canopy would clear the elevator servo. I am using the RJX which is basically the KST/TGY. Don't trim off the tab on the bottom, it helps to hold the canopy in at the bottom. I am using the Nanotech 1500 battery so that does push the canopy a little forward too. Overall I am happy with the fit after I moved the holes and in reality it wasn't that hard to move them. I only wish there was a better post attachment for this frame.

Yes, even the fiberglass canopies need modded, especially the Lynx protos style canopies. The Lynx STD Profile canopies fit a little better then the photos style ones, but they still rubbed my elevator servo and still needed cut to avoid rubbing my Typhoon motor. The only canopies I've found that really do fit are the stock plastic ones, but they need modded to stiffen them up around the grommets since they are a little tighter than they are on the stock frame and thus crack easier.

So far the stock ESC has handled the setup on my B bird fine, but I think I'm probably pushing my luck with it. My A bird sees most of the action so I don't have as many flights on the B one.

Uriah,

What pinion are you using on the typhoon 450?

Apologies for jumping in here. Is this the good tail servo (tgy-212) you were talking about in the link below? And if so, could the Corona 919mg servo be used for cyclics while using TGY-212 for the tail? (thanks!)

I just received the 212 in the mail yesterday and the 919 will be used for cyclic.

Thank you. I see the size of the Typhoon motor is 3.17 so i will be picking up a Lynx 3.17 pinion today.

Uriah,

What pulse and freq did you use for the TGY-212 and freq for the TGY-211?

You should probably be more specific. Which menu step are your referring to? There are several swashplate specific settings.

A good place to start is to look at page 12 of the manual that shows all of the default BeastX settings for the 300X. You already know that the servo frequency settings will be different with different servos, but most everything else will be the same. Of course don't rely on that and make sure to test everything before flight. Especially things like the sensor directions may also need to be reversed with different servos.

Recently, I accidentally changed my swashplate configuration on one of my 300Xs to 140* CCPM instead of 120* CCPM when I was navigating the setup menus... Talk about some funky flying characteristics...

LOL.

Uriah,

Im stuck on upgrading my frame. Didn't like the fact you had problems with the canopy and having to mod it. I have a brand new fiberglass frame sitting here, but really second guessing whether i want to pull the trigger or not.

I also had to setting Menu I (Swashplate Servo Directions) to solid blue in order to make them go in the same direction.
