Default G3 starts locking up

Hi guys - after I start flying around - after about 2 minutes or so, my G3 starts locking up - freezes for a few seconds and then lets me fly again.

I have turned the graphics settings in the program down to low settings and I still get the problem.

I have pretty fast pentium, high speed with 1 gig of internal memory - I can't seem to figure it out.

Any suggestions regarding my computer/G3 settings??

Thanks

My first thought is that it could be other software that is running in the background. Do what you need to so that all non-essential programs are running...

After windows starts up move your mouse down to the tray notification area [the icons next to the system clock on the task bar]. Click [or right-click] each one and choose to close or exit each one.

You can also use the task manager to terminate processes that don't appear in the tray area. Right-click the task bar and select Task Manager. Click the Processes tab. You _should_ be able to terminate any process that is running under your user context without causing system stability problems. Simply put, if it has your user name in the User Name column, you should be able to select it and click End Process without having any major side effects. The only two you should not terminate are explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe.

Don't worry, the programs that you are shutting down will start back up automatically when you restart your computer. If you manage to find out which one is causing the problem, you might want to uninstall it.

If that doesn't help, you might also want to run some anti-spyware software such as ad-aware to make sure that you don't have some malicious software that is causing the problem.

If all else fails, there is one more thing that I can think of that would cause this problem. You might be experiencing some overheating or low voltage situations after the sim has been running for a while. You would need to monitor the temperature of your motherboard, cpu and graphics card as well as the voltage from your power supply to verify that this is the problem.

Normally an over-temperature type problem would result in graphical artifacts [blockiness, discoloration, or screen blanking]. An under voltage might cause your system to spontaneously shut down or reboot.
