Question Servos and other component choices

I am planning a Protos package...
Stock with motor, maybe CC Phoenix 80, Spartan-9257, 6s 2200-2500...

I am wondering what all servos are being use or would be great for cyclic. I know the 9650 is pretty standard, but would like metal gear. However I am reluctant to spend 75+ per servo. I think there are some InoLab servos on HobbyCity that may be good for the money. I can get JR 3650 for $70, and that is the highest I want to go if they are really that great.

What does anybody think? What is being used for extreme 3D?

Also... about the power setup: Would it be bad, good or the same to use a 16T pinion with 6s and turning down throttle percentage, as opposed to 15T?

thanks

JR 3650's are very good, maybe the best choice.
Maybe you have to modify them a bit during the build (see my build thread)
The 9650's drop right in.
I got the JR DS3405 (EU only) they are just a bit slower, but fast enough for me

I would stick to 15T on 6S.
I ordered 15 and 16T but still use the 15T.
Don't know about the CC80, but it works very well with my jazz 80 on 75% now.
Haven't tried it yet, but Tuning the headspeed down on 16T with a lower throttlecurve might make things less efficient and maybe generate more heat.

I went the cheap route and got hs82MG's about $23 each and they seem to be just fine good specs
# Size: 1.17 x 0.47 x 1.16 inches (29.8 x 12.0 x 29.6 mm)
# Weight: 0.66 oz (19.0 g)
# Operating Speed @ 4.8V: 0.12 sec/60°
# Operating Speed @ 6.0V: 0.10 sec/60°
# Output Torque @ 4.8V: 2.8 Kg-cm (38.88 oz-in)
# Output Torque @ 6.0V: 3.4 Kg-cm (47.22 oz-in)

I use a CC80 witht he stock motor and it has been just fine, I just upgraded the motor to test it out to a scorpion 1000kv, I will drop to a 15 tooth pinion.

I am using the Ino Labs 251MG on cyclic and the 261 on the tail. They are faster than 9650 and can run @ 6v. If you buy the three pack, they cost less than 9650s also.....Ron

Brandon, that is exactly what i have been using on my protos. a 6s 2500 is slightly lighter and provides longer flight times, but the 2x 3s kongs work well for me. i get 4.5-5 min of sportflying/mild 3d at 2500 hs.

So, how long will 2x3s 2200, running 2600 rpm last per flight?

Thanks guys for the servo choices; I will make up my mind soon based on price vs specs and availability.
I just bought the PROTOS with motor kit today from ReadyHeli!!!

ktm520 said 4 and a half minutes to about 5 minutes with the kong powers 2x I am going to buy this proto for sure! ar6200 receiver, gy401 9254, stock motor Castle 80 amp esc, kong powers, dx7, cyclic I'm still deciding but I am probably going with 9650 or Jr 3400 G.

I run 5 minutes of sportflying with the 2x Kongpower 3S1 2200 25C packs.
They come down warmer than the 6S flightpowers but have very stable and much power.
Used them on my Minititan for more than 6 months, They keep amazing me .
