Hey Tommy,

My first radio was a Kraft 4 channel, that I paid over $500 for..... late seventies! hehehehee

Welcome back, I have also been in and out of the RC hobby over there past 20+ years, it is never too late to come back. I got into heli's last year and it is great. You will have a ball !

Check out "Starting My Shogun Project" that I have posted in the Shogun/Zoom section. It has photos and info for the build up.

Take care and congrats, welcome to heli's !

Hi Rob and others,
Rob I had your Project sheet printed out and already 'dog eared' before I went up to Mac's Monday. It's super and so far I've changed the rear LG bracket and also had to do just a touch of frame removal just under the main gear. Plan on getting back to it later in the day. I am impressed with the build of the Shogun. My only problem was that one of the struts on the LG was bent up about ½ an inch and has a crack in the bend. Guess it got tweaked somewhere. Already emailed Mac on that one.

I know that I can build the bird and get it setup to fly. In looking over the TX manual last night, it's such a jump from my old radios I am going to need some good help on how to set it up for the Shogun and will be asking my questions about that pretty shortly.

Thanks Rob, and if by any chance you know a great photographer over there in Tupelo by the name of Terry Woods, say hi to him for me.

Regards,

Tommy

Hey Tommy,

Glad the project is coming along and you are having fun with it. I am still working on revising the existing tail drive system. I will post more on what I do, when I figure it out. hehehee

Yes, it's a small world, Terry Woods is a family friend. He took all my baby photos about 50 years ago. Great photog..... he made even my photos look great. heheee Terry was living in Sherman, MS then moved to Aberdeen and somehow I think he is back in the Tupelo area. His health was not too good when I saw him last year at Jim Green's funeral.

Nice to meet you and let me know if you need any help on your Shogun or other projects.

HI there folks!

Do you think I can use the Het Thphoon Micro 6 brushless motor and Tsunamy 10 ESC for the power?

400DH from justgofly and a 8T pinion,,GREAT!!
Also use the TP2100. With this setup there is so much power from the motor ,[it could care less about the extra weight] that I may go to SEARS and get a DeiHard battery to stick in the Heli!

Whats the deal with the Himax shaft length? It seems too short. Have the 2025-4200 and 8t pinion to install.

??????

Thanks ted

It is to short but it is not a problem. You have to turn the gears around on the tail end so the tail rotates the right way. Mine is setup this way and I haven't had any problems.

I got the justgofly DH400 in my zoom and I love it .
Good little motor and great service from Vinnie.
I'm using a kokam 3s 15c 2000mah pack and it all runs nice and cool with a 8 tooth pinion.
Great power and a very light motor at a good price.

Cheers,
Jason.

Default pinion attachment for himax 2025

hi all, i'm new to rc anything, weel i've been flying heli for a couple of months now. i bought a shogun and want to put a himax motor on it. the only problem is the pinion gear. i'm wanting to use a 10 tooth, but the slide on and off ( not tight) should it be glued on with loctite. its a 2mm bore. and the pinion just slides off with ease.
thanks for any help.
