Default 550 innova, should I?

I have an align 550e v2 but I like the innova too, looking for thoughts on the 550 innova.
Is the belt tail much more quiet?

If u like belt drive go for it man. SINCE you want quiet system upgrade gear to Herringbone main*gear 153t mod.7 from 550sx, also grab pinion gear mod.7 and 638 XL belt. But you have to modefine the frame for gear to fit in. This will change the whole kds 550 gear system into 550sx gear ratio.
I waiting for some mikado part for the tail hope it fit

I would personally be a bit leery of the Innova line unless you are already committed, even at a heavy discount. Part support is a bit spotty as is and Allen at kds usa could only guarantee me parts for these would be in production for a few more months. There is a never flown 700 Innova for sale local to me for next to nothing but this was a deal breaker IMO.

Thanks for the replys, I would like another 550 size bird and this was one I wanted to hear more about. The parts support is something to consider. Time to re-think my plan.

Stop this parts nonsense... I bought almost everything for mycket 600 a few days ago, even small screws.. IF parts become Hard tog get, use logo parts. This is not a valid reason to not fly innova.

I wouldnt look back on buying my Innova 550 v2. The heli is super light and a great fly. By far my favourite heli to fly!

Yes parts are a bit hit or miss, i just stock pile usual spares that I may need in the future as and when they are available usually from HobbyKing. And as most guys say you can cross over to the logo parts if need be

and any reason to share a vid:

With my 700 I just set my heli up to flying weight, hold the heli by the tail nose down up high n give it a good drop stopping it about a foot or so. That's always worked for me with no issues. The only problem I've ever had with the belt was making sure the tail box wasn't too tight n causing it to bind.

I hope this helps.

Aloha

My belt is fairly loose compared to e.g a Trex 600 tail belt but I also modded the tail idler bearing. The stock one is undersized, the tail is based on the Logo 600 but Mikado uses a 3x10x4 bearing which actually touches the belt while KDS uses a 3x8x4 bearing for some reason.

I shortened the standoffs and put a pair of 3x10x4 bearings there. Mikado and Speedix have belt roller upgrades that are similar in function but I happened to have a couple bearings of the correct size laying around.

It should not be guitar string tight. Basically you want the belt tight enough so that it won't skip when moderate tension is applied to the tail rotor and it's not in danger of coming off the front belt rollers. A good test is to pinch the belt together where it goes into the boom at the tail end. It should just barely be able to touch in the middle when you pinch it with moderate pressure.

Don't over tighten the bolt that holds the idler bearing assembly or it will crush the plastic standoffs and squeeze the tail sideplates together at the top.
