Default EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT IN MAINSHAFT

The title kinda says it all. I was trying to fly my nano at a gym and it hit the floor hard. It looked like the main gear had slipped down but when I got it home it looks like there is too much up and down movement on the main shaft. You can push it up and the pinion and gear mesh fine but it won't stay up. I checked the exploded view in the book and everything is there. I'm really stuck on what to do next. Bob

If it falls by itself, you probable spun out the gear or split the main shaft...

It's designed that way to minimize breakage...should be able to push it up solid and fly

Put your finger on the center of the head while pushing up on the center of the main gear with your thumbs. It should go all the way up so it's nice and tight.

A couple culprits to check (assuming the main gear is indeed pushed all the way up):

The shaft collar may be slipping. It is just CA'ed to the shaft I believe, like the Lynx shaft. That has happened to me multiple times at least on the Lynx shafts. If you hold the head and push up on the main gear hard enough and often enough you can break it free.

The top hub may have slipped upward. There is no conventional hole and bolt (aka Jesus bolt) like larger helis. the set screws just rely on pressure. Hit it hard enough it can slip. Try loosening the screws and see if the hub slides down any. FYI there are *no* good aftermarket hubs on the market. The all will shift up. The OEM hub is the best one.

TODDMCF2002 how high does the gear go on shaft? I have tried to push it up but it won't move up to top it's about half way up .I'll check the hub tonight and see if that's what happened. Bob

Try sliding the black collar down that holds it tight on the topside if the gear is all the way up and you still have play. If the collar slides on the shaft it needs to be pushed down snug and reglued.

Should be 1" from the top of the frame to the center of the rotor hub. Sorry all i have is a tape measure with me. Went from the 1" mark not the end of the tape for a lil more accurate read. As accurate as a tape can be on a micro anyway lol. Make sure the collar is in the right spot and the gear isn't pushed up too far, before u glue anything.

Thanks learnedthehardway I'll check the collar tonight. Sounds like that could be the trouble. Good name it sounds like it could be mine. Bob
