Default Trex 450 flybar drifts to the left

I have been trying to hover my Trex flybar heli but it keeps drifting to the left. Elevator trims out OK. Aileron trim is not effective. The heli has training X bars installed. Any suggestions?

I bought the heli used (never flown) without a Rx. I've set up the swash plate level at mid stick and set the pitch angles on the blades per the Align instruction book. I think my stick movements match the instructions.

Is it roll (crabbing) to the left or is it yaw (nose to the left) ?

Guess you can always try to sub-trim and / or trim it. But if you really want a smooth ride then................................
If it's rolling, most likely your swashplate is not leveled. Perhaps this might sound like a handful right now, but in due time you'll get it:

DISCONNECT any TWO WIRES FROM MOTOR

Set all trims and sub-trims to zero.
Set dual rates to flat diagonals at 100 with zero expo.
Set pitch curves to flat diagonals. 0 25 50 75 100
Remove the head from the swash up. Leave main shaft in place
Remove all servo horns
Move collective to mid stick, start placing servo horns as close to 90° as possible.

Re install swashplate ONLY.
Adjust links and use swashplate leveler until it's leveled on all three points of swash.
(I always have a spare swash to avoid dismantling the existing for leveling)

Re install head assy. Reconnect motor & check for proper rotation.
Dial in desired pitch and throttle curves and give it a try
A properly set head will be driftless without the need of trims or sub-trims

Hope this helps some

The heli scoots to the left. On low hover it is somewhat a mix of drift and left roll. I will go thru the set-up procedure as suggested.

It is common for all heli's to drift slightly to the left. As long as it's not pulling like crazy to the left it's fine. Get it a bit higher (like 7-10ft) and it will lessen as well. Hope this helps!

That's called translating tendency and it's normal. It's caused by the thrust of the tail rotor pushing the helicopter to the left. No need to trim it out, fly it out by feeding in a touch of right cyclic as the heli lifts up off the ground.

I don't know if you have watched these videos or not, but they are very good to use:

http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=...CPM_Part_1.wmv
http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=...CPM_Part_2.wmv

This will help you to insure you have a level swashplate at mid, low and high stick. As well as teach you proper setup techniques. If you have seen these already, please forgive me.
