Default Trex 450 Pro 3G Flybarless!

Thought I'd share this and see what you guys think! Finished the install on Friday. Was pretty easy except wiring the thing!

Sorry if the images aren't the best. I'll take some better ones on a nice sunny day out flying!

Thumbs up yes - you can fly with 4 blade rotor head without flybarless stabi system

Wanna flybarless without the elec stabi system? - YEP - you can buy the multi-blade 4 blade rotor head and no need electronic stabi system - again if you don't want to spend money on the elec stabi system while no 3d in flybarless - then buy the 4 blade rotor head

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how great the Align flybarless setup is.

Anyone? Anyone?

I'm loving it! No problems so far.

It's a totally different feel while flying if your new to FBL. Which I am. But I'm getting used to it. And if flies freakin awesome! I'm loving it. It's so stable for just cruising it around. Tried a few 3D maneuvers with it (nothing too exciting) and was ok. Just need to tone the gain down slightly.

Default 450 FBL

Jake that heli flies like a champ, and it is quite a bit quieter if i might add compared to the stock flybar setup.

RCJPTH,

So you are saying that the 4 rotor head is as stable as a stock machine in flybarless design?

Can you use standard servos like on a flybarred machine?

What are the negatives then?

Default When will 450 Pro kits ship with FBL in the box?

Any thoughts on this? I note that the various heli shops are already selling the 600 Nitro and 700's with the FBL in the box. I gotta think that the rest of the lineup will certainly be shipping this way soon enough.

I'm wondering if the first all electric heli kit to get the FBL will be the 600 or the 450?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any "inside info" from Align and/or Assurance as to when we might be seeing a 450 Pro kit with the FBL in the box?

What kind of collective and cyclic pitch range do you guys setup with miniVBAR ?
Does it need to be more or less than when using the traditional flybar ?

Thanks !

Collective same as you would say on a flybar, cyclic you tend to run 9-11 degrees, it is entirely different so you need that resolution to work with.

Default Trex 450 Pro FBL 3G System

Here's a little video of my 450 Pro with the new 3G on it. Just getting a feel for it. I've never had any experience with flybarless helis. But I'm loving it so far!

Can someone that is using the mini VBAR on a 450 Pro comment on the servo horn length and the resulting "cyclic gain" calculation (via the "geometry tool" on the vstabi site).
With the "usual" servo horn length recommended by the 450 pro manual (i.e. 15mm or so, so that the links are straight up to the swashplate balls) the cyclic gain calculation gives me a pretty low value, 81 or something like that. This most likely means that the servo horn length on the Pro is pretty big which results in too much pitch range...
But if I reduce the servo horn length then my swash links will be "crooked".

Any comments please ? Never mind, I figured it out !
Tahnks !

As mentioned, it was very nervous and twitchy.
Here is where I found the way to do it http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t5...hlight=450+fbl

But when I tried the RJX head it was like getting a totally new bird.

Great thread !
I have just made a Pre Order for the SK 720, hopefully I have it in the end of April.

I have also bought the Mikado head and swash plate driver, and a pair of EDGE FBL main blades for mine, it should be here next week .

Where to put the controller, hm …. I have not made up my mind yet, I think that KDE – thing look so huge on the PRO, I hope there would be room enough to put my controller under the bottom plate.
I already have the SK 360 installed in another –not-at-the-moment-flying -bird, it could very well be that I start playing with that in my PRO
