Futaba 8J Throttle range?

Hi Gurus

I just picked up a brand new BNF V120D02S and am using a Futaba 8J transmitter.

I managed to bind the heli to the tx and setup the swash etc, but i'm facing trouble with the throttle range.

On a linear throttle curve, on spoolup, the motor stutters, sometime not able to spool at all. Upon successful spoolup, once throttle passes 50%, the RPM does not increase any further. I tried to fly but when I pitch pump, the motor bogs. Basically i can't even flip the heli as it would plant into the ground due to motor bogging.

I've switched out with another stock motor and esc so as to isolate the issue, but still no difference at all.

I thought maybe the ESC needs to be calibrated and programmed, but there is no information about this.

Anyone has any experience and can advise?
