Default Setting up GOV mode within the HV120

On my 700E DFC. This is my first time for setting this within the ESC and just wanted to see if it jives with what others have set. I used the settings from Castles site. How well is this working for you? Please note there was NO brake set within Castlelink however once you save it to file and then open your DAT file its in there...I have yet to try this method.

looks pretty much the same as what I have and it works pretty well

You can ramp HS 3 up to 2150 and still have a decent amount of overhead if you wanted.
Just depends if you want that little bit extra pop, I do

I run a couple different choices on my 120. Your governor mode should be set rpm, not fixed endpoints. Also, I recommend something higher than 3.0 volts/cell on your cutoff. With the soft cutoff, you can reset the throttle, and continue to run, but if the cutoff is 3 volts, you can damage your packs this way. I use 3.5 volts/cell and run a good 6 minutes without hitting the cutoff. Other than those two items, your setup is the same as mine.

PWM Rate: 8 Khz change that to 12 khz

Motor Timing: 5 what was the stock setting ????? if they mean pole count its a 10 pole on the 750mx motor

Governor Gain: 12 might be a little low for a 3gx not sure on other FBL i run mine at 15

2150 is the best head speed for the DFC you will get about 4mins of all flying

What should I use for just some nice gentle sport flying numbers? I was thinking 1700, 1800, 1900. When I was just hovering around the Castle logs seemed to look like it was around 1850 tops with fixed endpoints.

Settings I went with, please let me know if anyone sees any issues! I am just hovering it around in figure eights right now, so I didn't think there was a need for high head speed...

Yes, with throttle curves of 0-30-30-30-30, 70-70-70-70-70, and 100-100-100-100-100.

This is exactly what I use and recommend it for sport flying. I tried 2100 in the beginning and flipped into IU1 and my reaction was JESUS LORD!!! No way! Then tried 1900 and it too gets your attention. 1700 and 1800 is very nice speed and gives the ESC room to add the juice when you need it. I also made the changes Dino mentioned and it was a nicer transition when changing modes and when I loaded the disc with my sloppy collective changes.

RV_7A,
Thanks for the feedback! I to, would rather avoid an OH JESUS moment, and when I saw everyone saying 2150, and the most I was using in fixed endpoints was 1800 - I thought twice!

2150rpm isn't to scary, everything just happens more urgently.
2000 is what I fly at most of the time

Well it's clearly a relative thing. Relative to skill. But when I weed eat my lawn here in Texas I don't pull the trigger to full throttle. About mid way does the trick for me. On my heli I use governor more like a cruise control as opposed to a rev limiter. Call me old if you like. Because I am ;o)

I suggest setting the pwm rate to 12 and the timing also should be higher than 5. I forget what the choices are in this esc, but I think mine is at 12.5. I agree with the lower headspeeds. I used to run 2000, but have found that 1800 is plenty enough power for my style of flying. I have run 1650 for a bit, and I am heading lower than that soon as well. I want to try 1200 if i can get there on 12s. I may have to go 6s to get it happy.

Wow, I flew 6 packs today and this thing is a BEAST! I very rarely went into IU2 (1900 RPM), staying in IU1 around 1800 RPMs and loved it! I do not know if the Align servos respond the same way as the Outrage Torq ones do, but even with lots of expo the heli was ready to respond and move at any little stick movement! I thought the 600EFL Pro was a nice heli, but the 700E DFC is a lot quicker to move and respond to input... My poor wife she is 3rd in line now!!!

Hey guys you might want to set your "Auto Rotate Enabled" within your ESC to on (True). I may be incorrect but setting it here enables a quicker spool up of the motor once you flip the switch back to the off position when practicing them. The very first one I attempted from 150 feet or so I dropped to within 10 feet off the ground with good head speed but aborted because I missed my mark by a few feet. Only to find out that once I flipped the switch it began a medium spool up which forced me to commit to land. At that point I had begun my flare at 10 feet thinking I was just going to fly off and try again. Well I lost too much head speed and when I dropped and flared again I hit hard enough to barely cause a boom strike. :

Can anyone confirm this will create a quicker spool up on an aborted auto? I'm ready for egg on my face so let me know.
