Heli Jive 120HV is it a crap or am I unlucky?
Happy new Year ...to all of you.
I usually prefer the opposite site ...but now that I got my door open to Big Electrics I guess this is the place .... I had to buy myself a gift so I did. 1.TDR Rigid 2.HeliJive 120HV Ver11 3.Pyro 700-52 4.Progdisk 5.Futabas 451x3 & 251 6.AC-3X Gyro 7.TP 5000 G6 65C 6s x2 8.Futaba R6208SB RX Everything set to try my first hover. As I tried to spool up the pyro (mod4 & AR set) The heli started bouncing the tail because the Pyro was stopping and starting again...stopping and starting. I got everything out from the heli and bench test them. I did a full reset Mod1 and then Mod4 in HeliJive and then tried to speed up the motor on the bench. After 4sec of increasing speed(up to 20% load free) the motor started bogging or coughing to be more realistic. And stopped and start over again or did something as it was magnetically trapped. No Helijive flashing or anything else abnormal. I also changed the bullets 5mm & 6.5mm , all the same. It did the same with a small Scorpion motor from my Trex500 and 6 Cells But the cough was only for a sec ,it bogged and then speed up with no problem. The same happened in KSA mode also. I paid 570$ for that.Do you know any other similar cases. Is it a Kontronik bug ?Does it require an update or to be sent back in the factory? How long it will take for me to have a new one.....If I will have one ever. I heard that the turnaround procedure takes a month at least. It is a month old but tested yesterday for the first time. Can it be replaced from the America's Kontronik (Since it was bought from USA) or send it in Germany because I live in Europe? I would find Mr. Mel's help a gift from God. or from anyone else with the same Helijive illness.

Well, Kontronic ECSs aren't generally referred to as 'crap' but there could be an issue... it would be very rare but it isn't unheard of. There is a Kontronik forum here on HF and it is quite active. That might be a better place to ask for help on this.

Did you try swapping wires around? Throttle curves are flat right?

What you explain sounds unusual. So at beginning of spool up it does that? I have the helijive in combination with the Pyro 700-52. In mode 4 it would simply spool up to the proper speed (under load) and adjust at the end of the spool up.
So did you try it under load and if so what are your throttle settings? Did you setup a flat curve? If thats the case it indeed sounds interesting. Not sure where you purchased it but if at readyheli - they will take care of it. Not sure about the other companies in the US. I only purchased directly at readyheli or Kontronik in Germany. |

Yes it was purchased from USA and not from Ready.
But Ready heli is the main distributor while the others are partners. It was bought new not even a month ago. And did the same with linear or flat curves. With load or without. Two days now my brain is like gel...

contact the dealer and see to get it replaced. However I see your location showing Greece. In that case maybe call Kontronik service. Might be easier.
I remember that I worked an issue with my first Jive through readyheli. That was a flawless experience. Was very happy and never had any issues any longer. |

maybe you should ask one of the moderators to merge this one with the other post.

TDR section here for the motormount and did you control the throttle or let the ESC do the soft start? Another possibility is the bullet connectors to the motor could have a bad solder joint and the ESC looses commutation.

When I noticed it for the first time it was with the pinion mounted on the heli.

I don't know if this helps you but please note:
On my TDR ...I had a normal throt curve and no blades on ...I had this coughing once or twice....ugly noise. I then went to fully horizontal thr. Curves put. blades on ...had no issues at all. If you are on gov mode...you have to have horizontal thr.curves in all f.modes. You just have a set up issue that's all I think.

Cant say its common, but you should test it WITH load, period, without load these items can happen.
Returns should be done directly to germany, else expect long time since if shipped to US it will have to go back to Germany anyway, via usa, just adding time. Edit: first test was with load? Then i would say fill out the service form and ship it back is only option. |

MrMel, what do you mean with "load"? I think that all us complete the setup without the blades for security reason. Is the motor installed without blades a suitable load?
Thanks. |

Usually just the drivetrain is enough, ie take blades off but leave the pinion

Billiano did you use a linear throttle curve when you programmed mode 1 and 4 and then change it to a flat curve.

I tried with blades initially ,as I was in the safe side, nothing expected to happen.
Then without blades and finally without any load at all. I tried it today with an old Hacker motor and the Helijive rocked. In mod4 & APM(linear Curve) So perhaps the turnaround time will be minimized. because it may be the Pyro. P.S: It was a long shaft Pyro and cut the shaft in order to fit to my TDR, is that a reason to void guarantee?
