Maybe that was the bigger size. So the consensus sounds like the mini protos is the best in class. So hard to decide because I'm hearing so many different views, lol. Sorry to sound confused, I jsut am. I was going to build a rave (heard it was the best), but couldn't find build vids, now I can't find protos build vids either. Does the mini protos build just like the bigger one? Will the regular protos vids help me build a mini protos?

The big Protos tail is rather finicky to set up. The little one has a slightly different design that works better. In both cases you MUST use the ball link resizer to get the links silky smooth or you may have tail issues.

It's hard to compare the Rave and Mini P. I have both now, and they are totally different animals. The Rave feels much bigger in the air (and looks it too, the canopy is much taller). It's 100g heavier than the Mini P too, and of course swings 350s.

I like them both, but the Rave is still very new to me (only 4 flights). I will say that at this point in time the Mini P is a lot more fun for me, but then again I've got a lot more flight time on it.

As for building, both are very nice kits. I'd say the Mini P will be slightly easier and less demanding of a perfect setup, since the gear drive tail on the Rave is not going to tolerate any mechanical ineptitude. That said, a well set up Rave is pure mechanical beauty. It will auto better than a Protos 500, and spins for days (seems like it anyway) on spooldown. The Mini P autos like a manhole cover.

Hope that helps!

yup, thats my ONLY complaint about the protos, it does not want to auto. I haven't even tried even though i'm fairly comfortable autoing 500 size birds in the past.
