Default Back To Flying

Hello,

I'm Dan from Wisconsin. Been attempting to fly helicopter for about 10 years. I've flown on and off, but due to health issues and work, I've been limited in flying. I'm ready to get back at it again, with more time to fly.

I attended Ernie Huber's flight school in April 2004. What a great week that was. I still remember what Ernie and Ralph taught me. Now I want to go start from what they showed me and spend more time in the air.

I have nitro Raptors 30 and 60. Plus a 90 that needs to be finished. I also have a Blade 130x, 230s and 450x. I like the electrics, but the nitro is still my favorite to fly.

I wish Thunder Tiger was still supporting there helicopters and Blade had a 500 or larger being offered.

I'll probably be asking some stupid questions as I get back into this. Bear with me, I do love the helicopters.

Thanks,
Great flying to you all.

Welcome. You already have a nice assortment of helis but then there is no such thing as too many. Consider getting one of the sims to help keep your skills up. This is a great place no matter what level you are at.

Hi there!

I am also from Wisconsin but more south. I think most pilots I have met (who are not at my club) are more mid or north.

Anyways, hi and welcome to the forum!

Things have changed quite a bit from the Raptor days. The 230 S you have is one of the best cheap trainer helis of the newest generation of FBL, electric, Rescue-enabled helicopters. Many say nitros are easier to learn on but I personally digress. I concur with using a computer simulator and then try it out on something like the 230 S which can do a lot of things despite its size and lack of power (compared to other helis just a bit bigger) and for learning, it will last you a while through your learning process.

I have this post to try to get you back up to speed which mentions also the simulator-based training that is very popular here and that I take myself.

Good luck!

What kind of health issues you were facing? The most common issues are back pain i think.
