Default Anybody Pin The Pinion?

One time in the air started losing power. Lucky save, not too high. The grub screws came loose on the pinion. Yes, I used loctite. Re-did the screws, so far good. This past weekend the main gear screws loosened up... however, another lucky save with just a hard landing, this time I was was up 60 feet or so. Anyone have this happen? I'm thinkin' maybe I should pin this stuff. Thoughts? I'm not doin hard stuff only sport flying. The grub screws are about as tight as one can get a small allen...I really don't like them. Thanks! (It's a Gaui 425).

Robert, I can't say i've had a prob on the pinion. Make sure there is a flat surface on the shaft for them to sit on. Sometimes there might be a bit of oil etc on the threads and won't let the locitite work.

Have dont it on the main gear but was my fault as i hadn't perfectly lined up the shaft
notches with the grub screws.Tightened well but after a few punches, they slipped. Now when i put them in , i have one removed, look through hole, tighten the other, loctite and put the removed one in, remove other, double check, loctite, put in, happy flying

Vas

Default pin

I never had this problem--what about vibration? l know loctite shouldnt slip at all. as stated before there must be some oil on there for it not to work. To be safe though I would ck for those every couple flights.

I had this happen on my 425 once. I had not put a flat on the motor shaft yet. Luckily the crash was not too bad at all.

I guess oil could be the issue here. I hate when that happens. I'm ready to drill if it should happen again.

Just coat the shaft with red or green loctite AND use the set screws, if you ever need to take it off just heat it up with a soldering iron and it'll come right off
