How to remove the pinion from the stock motor?
I want to try a 11t pinion, but am not sure what's the best way to remove the 10t pinion from the motor shaft. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well the best way is to use a pinion puller, i.e. the tool for the job, but that probably doesn't help you too much as you won't have one. I spent losts of time messing around, with various botched methods, until I finally I decided I needed one. Makes life a lot easier.
Hopefully someone can chime in with a good Heath Robinson method, as the things I've done in the past aren't worthy of public airing. Cheers Sut

If brute force doesn't work, you're just not using enough
For the finicky method, any tool you can slip between the motor body and pinion will do, as long as you can get a decent grip. Freezing the whole motor also helps loosen things up a little. Like Sutty said, I suppose a dedicated pinion pulling tool would be the ideal solution - but in reality, those cheap press-fit brass pinions are not coming out in a reusable condition. You might as well whip out the plumber's pliers and get it over with. They're also good for pressing the new one in after you've inevitably mangled the old one beyond all recognition.

Like Sutty, I tried a few methods and then gave in and bought a puller after pulling the whole shaft out of a motor when trying to remove the pinion
This is what you want

Well, I succeeded without using a specialised tool or force. I used a plumber's pliers; got a good grip on the pinion itself and kept rotating the motor can clockwise - 2 min. later the pinion was removed and in reusable condition. Probably I won't ever be using the stock 10t pinion again, but operation was successful The pinion I will be using is a Rhino 11t, which seems to make a better mesh.
