Oh I got ya...The tail servo still is working and is actually performing pretty normal with the tail blades on it that it came with (not sure why the yellow tail blades from blade would do that??). I do however have some wag only when giving right rudder input.

Thanks for your input!

Default Hitec 5084 on tail

Besides setting endpoints, what else needs to be set when installing the Hitec 5084 on the tail of the 300X?

Depends on how you mount it, but i put mine in just like the eflite was mounted and had to reverse the setting on the bx.

Since the 5084 is heavier than the stock servo, I moved it forward as far as possible. You will want to install in mount with output shaft of servo toward the rear of heli. This will allow the use of stock length pitch change rod. Will have to reverse rudder servo in Tx.

Before I started the swap I placed a reference mark with the stock servo installed and servo wheel centered. This will help in determining how far forward you can move the new servo.

Ensure setup menu D (tail servo frequency) is Red solid (270Hz)
Ensure setup menu C (center pulse length) is Blue solid (1520 us)

well replacement tail servo number 2 just bit the dust, so back to the trusty align servo I go... Now I shall go beat myself up and question why I ever put an e-flite tail servo back on my second 300x knowing they are junk. Only good thing is it did it on the ground just before I took off. so no carnage

Default Tail Servo

Mine literally smoked on flight 45. Replaced it with DS35 per threads; flies great!

Well... in your case, the ds35 was a good call.....

I bought my 300X used without the ar7200bx. Threw a sk720 on, set it up and flew it. On about the third flight the tail servo let go in the middle of a flip and it augered in hard. Stripped two cyclic servos and the maingear, bent the tail boom and broke the tail box and a blade grip. It's now wearing a set of Savox cyclics and a Hyperion ds11-gcb on the tail. They work like a charm.

I've got an align 425 servo laying around from my 250 kit if anybody is interested. $15 and she's yours. I went with a MKS 95i and couldn't be happier, not cheap but worth the coin. PM me if interested in the servo.

Default blade 300x servo failures

All four servos on a new blade 300x have failed. No flights. Blade should supply better servos that don't fail upon initial startup.

Old thread, but my tail servo failed on the 5th battery pack as did the stock ESC.

I think it would be less expensive in the long run for Blade/Horizon to use better quality parts than to be replacing parts as often as they do.

Just my opinion but a lot of the parts on the 300X are just junk.

Default 300x tail servo fail

Flew my 300x a few days ago its done about 40 faultless flights and tail started to wag
thought it strange as its usualy rock steady thought it must be a bit of a breeze then it began to yaw thinking it going to spin had to land her but tail was spinning faster so brought her down as gently as i could but tiped over and blades struck the grass while spooling down. Got it back home and servo was dead pluged another on in and was ok so tail servo had died, and started dying while in mid air, the heli looks like brand new and look after it opposed to my others, phoned horizon up and said if i sent servo bk they would replace it but i said i dont know what other damage it may have caused to the heli

I'm not saying you cannot get a bad one, but I have run a stock tail servo (and cyclics btw) for +200 flights no problem.

If you go through the ar7200bx setup and make sure your limits are ~1mm less than max (so they will not bind), make sure that everything mechanically is loosey-goosey (including a drop of triflow once in a while), only use only enough tail gain that you need (to the wag is too much imho), and dynamically balance your tail blades to minimise vibs, you will be good imho.

Cheers,
TomC

I agree with Tom except for his very last statement "you will be good imho"

The servos are not up to the job even with a perfectly setup tail, unless you get lucky like Tom has.
