I repaired that one broken canopy post and have been running with the v911 since. And so far, (knock on wood), so good. And that's from someone who is currently practicing flipping and doing inverted orientation for the first time. heheheh

To all...

Definitely keep posting in this thread, positive or negative viewpoints. Keep the discussion going. I'd love to have more options for alternative canopies for the Nano CP X.
I hear you on that theory. The math adds up. The frames are cheap and rebuilding my heli wasn't bad at all. You convinced me to give it a try lol
Just hope I can do as nice of a job trimming it as you did.

Agreed on the feedback. I love hearing other peoples opinions, and I don't mind doing some reading to get them.

@daryoon - You should be able to see how much I trimmed off vs. the standard v911. The weight may not be exactly the same as stock but it is very close. Not sure exactly how accurate my scale is, but the nCPX came out to 26g (no batt) with each. Have a brushless kit coming from Dylan so shouldn't be an issue ;-)

Hi,
I got the first (white) 911 canopy too more than a week ago (and have 3 yellow ones on the way);
but:
I tried it, cut it, wasted it.

Sorry, but it is ugly and IMO does not really fit to the Nano frame.

Even with changed holes for the pins - canopy is too much in front of the heli.

I prefer to fly with my broken (and repaired, repaired, repaired) canopies.
Maybe Solo Pro canopies fit better - did not try them so far.

My biggest concern with the stock canopy is that A) they are never in stock and B) They offer almost no protection for the chip board. the corners of my chip board are already looking a bit chippy.

If the canopy is too forward for you. It's easy to remedy. Simply slide the canopy more rearward and make new holes for the top and bottom. Cut away the excess and shape any way you like.

The OP was just example of cheap alternatives out there. Get you guys thinking.

In fact, I've stuck round objects into the canopy as I heat up the plastic where I want to stretch. You can change the look of the canopy and get some unique looks.

Hard to nitpick at the price.

I need to get some of that stuff today when I go grocery shopping. I only plan on removing the text off the canopies and adding NCPX on it instead. I just wish I could find a tiny set of Blade decals for it. I have Eflite decals somewhere, but they are too big for this project.

The polish remover doesn't effect the white finish does it? I notice some of that stuff can tarnish the finish underneath and make it look worse.

I have heard that some nail polish remover doesn't work.

My wife said hers is the industrial strength ones they sell at the nail supply store. Whatever that means. It works well. The plastic of the v911 shell does not get compromise. It's white plastic. Perfect white left when done. All other paint is gone.

Then you can simply paint as you like.

Well, I'm pretty sure nail polish remover IS acetone!

You can also use RC fule (methanol) to safely remove paint.

Brake cleaner can be a bit too aggressive on plastic.

Still waiting for my V911 shells... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
