What size holes need to be drilled for the new canopy? Mine came in the mail yesterday but the original holes are too small and I actually bent my canopy rod, not to mention I want to trim it as per this thread.

I used a mototool grinding bit. It makes a hole .079". I reamed a slight bit more than that so the grommets fit better. A little spit on the grommets make them slide in better.

Thanks and I like your trimming. Looks great and easier than some of the others I have seen, I may try it.

Since I have gone brushless, I didnt worry too much about the weight. This trimming adds a little nose weight, but it compensates for the solid tail boom. At the same time I went with bullet blades. I dont know if it was the blades or the canopy, but I think it flies better. No 3d, just living room flying.

Disengage your main gear a little. So it's not meshing with the pinion.

Then grip the head and hold so the main shaft is horizontal to the ground.

You'll see right away how your heli is balanced. Nose heavy or tail heavy.

Ideally, if you heli is in perfect balance, whever you rotate the heli...it will stay in place.

Make sure you insert a battery when doing this test. And simply by moving the battery back or forward, you'll shift the balance. Then you'll know where to keep the battery for a balanced heli.

Good tip! So this is always ideal?

Here's mine with a WL Toys canopy, sturdy and visible. No trimming...

Yeah. That's how the do it all the way up to the big Heli. Usually it's best to push the motor up, but mine is brushless...so I pull the gear instead.

For you guys, just push the motor up until the gear isn't engage anymore.

I thought this tip was known to everyone. I am sure there's a YouTube video somewhere demonstrating it.

I see you have added what looks like a bit of spring steel between your front struts. Would you please tell me more about what you have going on there?

I've been thinking of using some of my spring steel feeler gauge stock to fab up a set of landing gear and using screws in place of the pins, and anything handy for skids. Is your mod maybe a better solution?

I just ordered that black/orange one as it matches up perfectly with Fusuno's Infinite Fire 130x canopy.

Nope, that is just a wrap of electrical tape, it used to be flat but I noticed it stretched a bit and now bows up.

Got my yellow/black canopy today along with my Fusuno 130x Infinite Fire canopy. Very, very, very close. Close enough to matching that I'm happy with it. Now I gotta do is trim and re-drill the v911 canopy like I did on my white/blue one and install it.
