Default Fury 55 Is it good for "FAI"

I have been flying helis for 20 years. I do not do "3D". I like loops, rolls, stall turns, etc.

My previous helis are a Concept 60, Concept 30 SRX and Ergo 46.

I know the Fury is a great 3D machine. I like the quality of it.

I am not sure it is as good for my type of flying.

The other heli I am considering is a Raptor 50 Titan SE.

I would like to stick with CCPM that the raptor does not have.

The advantage of the Raptor is the parts are available at the LHS.

I don't see why not. The Fury 55 is an excellent machine, no doubt. Just because it was designed to fly anything in the book won't really take away from basic flight characteristics. Mine is smooth as it can be...I'm no hardcore 3D guy, either. Heck, a Raptor can do smack-down 3D....it's just the guy behind the sticks (arguable, I know, but you get my point).

Scott Gray can do some amazing 3D flights with his F3C Sylphide. My overall point is, while a machine may be designed for FAI (such as the Tempest FAI) or 3D (Fury 55, Stratus, etc), you can adjust the machine some (pitch curves, flybar weight, dampening, etc) and get the machine to fly like you want. The Fury 55 is no exception. Just set it up to be a bit more tame, and I think it'll fit your style just fine.

Joey is correct The Fury 55 can be an incredibly stable helicopter. The paddles that are included in the kit may be more aggressive than what you're looking for, but it would be simple to add a flybar weight. One thing I really like about this model is that it is not "pitchy" in fast forward flight, that is one characteristic that can be very annoying in some other models.

I think you will be very pleased with the quality, and build. Excellent choice. Flying it is even better.

If you have any problems or questions, PM or post it here.

Congrats, sir, you'll Enjoy it.

I have a Fury and got some softer dampers to help lower the head speed - MA 844 8

No doubt the Fury is a smoother tracking heli. It doesn't need radical swash throw to be responsive either. I found mine to fly much tighter and holding it's line better through turns, and loops and such. Very fine machine and a great holding tail. I liked the 620 mm blades on mine too, without quite as much head speed. We don't need peak engine performance to achieve smooth graceful flight.

The Fury 55 is rock solid and flies like it is on rails-untill you want it to be a monster. It's all in the setup.
