Edge 623mm blades
Hi all, I'm thinking of putting edge 623mm blades and edge 95mm tail blades, can anyone advice if this will work/fit without any fear of blade strikes?
Thank you in advance |

Thanks for the info! I had read your post, but I could not help you since I have only used 600mm blades and have not seen another person with this heli fly!

Blades arrive tomorrow. Went for the edge 623's. This heli has been a breeze to build amd I've really enjoyed it. Now have the motor, esc so just need the mini vbar now to get it to the maiden stage.

I will post some later in the week after I've uploaded them from my phone. Have to say this heli was very nice to build. Just wish they given the front tray were the electrics go a bit more thought.

Blades fitted real nice and maiden went without any issues on the maiden. For the record that's edge 623mm amd 95mm tails.

I've never understood the logic of going to the largest possible mainblades (623mm in this case) for good sport/3D flying. I've always found that the commonly used blades (I use the Edge fbl 603 on my x50e) provide faster cyclic response, good stability, and good auto-rotation ability. The big plus is that they do this with less battery draw and hence longer flight times. Same goes with my 700e helis, I always prefer 690's over 710's. I have tried larger blades and they all feel too slow and floaty for me.
Maybe if you are running a heavy setup (like scale) at lower headspeeds it starts to make more sense. Maybe just a personal preference thing, like using ubec's off your flight packs (which I prefer because it's simple) versus separate rx packs, lol! Cheers, TomC

Hi Tom , it's just my personal preference. Tried both sizes on my x50e and just liked the 623's. Have both sets so can swap over etc if I want to :-)

The plastic main shaft upper/lower bearing mounts were my only major disappointment. Quickly replaced these with the metal upgrade ones for ~$30.
Also, the motor mount needs a spacer/adapter for many motors or you will not be able to line up the pinion with the mainshaft and lower motor bearing support properly. Another $5 down the drain, lol! http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBYDY&P=Z Still loving my x50e. Cheers, TomC
