Default "Must do" upgrades for 300x?

Hi,

I am looking to pick up a 300x soon and was wondering what are some of the parts that should be upgraded right away. I have read that some lynx dampeners and CF main blades are a must.

I also hear about being saying the servos and tail motor need to be swapped out?

Just looking for a bigger heli that flies nice out of the box. I do not do 3d yet, but am going to be trying some inverted stuff this spring.

The only thing you really should do is get one of the two frame stiffeners available. I have the Lynx. The other are the Astrodesign ones. And then do the loctite mod on the motor bearing. That is all I did on mine. I do not do 3D and am still flying with the wooden blades. They will work fine until you are comfortable with the heli and want to do more.

However, once you have a blade strike, you'll probably want to go to the CF blades. Higher speed, better balance out of the box. Just my opinion....

Oh, and +1 on the frame stiffeners, they're on my list....

First thing I would do is, start looking in the for sale section for some MKS92a+ for cyclic and MKS ds95i for the tail. You Would will be surprise sometimes with how cheap you might find them. Might also want to stay away from the aluminum anti rotation blanket or you will end up replacing the swashplate with any minor crash.

What motor bearing loctite mod? I did over a hundred flights without any loctite mid. Flying with the wicked motor now.

you must be lucky. I have 2 300x motors with less than 20 flights with the shafts that are grooved and the wires near rubbed through from being in their stock location. One flying only woodies and the other with the blade cf blades.

My two 300Xs should be coming tomorrow (please USPS!). One is an Align 3GX and the other is minus the FLB unit.

I'm doing the loc-tite mod on both of them and taking off the sticker. Ordered two sets of the Astroid frame stiffeners today and have two Tarot tail rotors coming hopefully by Friday. Unfortunately, the HK USA warehouse was out of stock of the Nanotechs but I have four 3s1300 30C Turnigy lipos coming which should hold me over.

Can't wait to have a GREAT park flyer at the ready!

What is the loctite motor mod? I must have been out in the woods looking for my other rotor blade when that notice went out....

CF main blades and a frame stiffener. From what I've tried so far (Astroid, home made and Lynx) the Lynx is the best solution.

Enjoy!

For starters, get a good set of CF blades and do the Align tail hub mod. Make sure you get a decent, non-wobbling or out-of-round main gear. What the 300X needs is a real frame!

So true! Some main gears are ok'ish, others are unusable!

In order imho:-

Loctite motor mod
frame stiffener or shim rear servos
strenghten canopy (shoe goo or similar
zip tie landing gearto main frame rather tha screws
pu gel arbx in situ or move and adhere with 3m
Align tail hub and grips
Carbon Blades

Check your tail for binding, balance blades, swash is level, 0 pitch at 50%, 12' pitch both + & -, belt tension, vibes, blade tightness.

Hopefully after all this you are good to go. AVOID blade metal upgrades.
