Default New scale build questions.

I just ordered a Thunger Tiger e550 FBL and plan to us it for a scale build to install a 550 fuselage on.There are questions that I am looking for opinions on and I am sure there are a lot of different ones so here goes.
1)I know the head speed on a scaler needs to be lower than say a 3d flyer. What are some recommended head speeds.
2)Battery size for a scale 550? mah,c rating I will be running 6s if and when I stretch it it will change.
3)This one kinda goes with question 1 but a good KV ? 800-900?
It comes with a 1150 kv would this work with regearing? Doing some research and hope to get it all right .
I am a fairly new flyer so I will be flying without fuse for a while to try and figure things out.will be adding weight to try and figure this all out.

This might help you get on the right track. For a 550 size, an rpm range of 1400 to 1600 (depending on performance tests) will work and my own 550 size CH-139 turns around 1450rpm currently. Motor kv is only part of the equation, so in order to see more of the picture, what is the gearing (pinion and main plus what pitch is the gearing) so that it can help narrow down what needs to be changed. By the sounds of it, you might need a higher kv motor rather than one under 900. I run a 5000 6s battery for balance weight, not for duration. I get plenty of air time (10 minutes with a 3800mAH pack that I use when I run out of 5000's) but I seldom fly more than 7. Fill in a few blanks and let's see what is up.

Default Gearing

The Thunder Tiger 550e comes with a 111 main gear and is capable of 9-14 pinions.I am not sure of the pitch.in doing some checking on a few different head speed calculators I think I need to change the motor out for a lower kv in the 7-800 range but still would like to get an idea from others on head speed that they are running for a 550 and there setups..Man they are hard to find in that range.I found a few but any help on finding motors would be appreciated too.
As far as batteries I usually play it safe so I don't drain to low and a higher mah will stay a little cooler, its probably overkill but that's what I have been doing and like you said it is a great balancing tool.
Thanks

Yes, you can use an 800kv motor with a 12t pinion and your 111t main gear. You have a very good gearing range to work with and motors from 700 to 1000kv will do the job very nicely. Have a look at my thread on the Jet Ranger Reloaded and you will see video of mine at 1450rpm picking up a Bambi bucket full of water and just flying around at a Florida meet last year. It will give you a good idea of what yours will sound like. Take care.
