Default Hmm I got some vertical play in start shaft AUD0035-2

The heli sharts fine but it has probably 1/8th inch vertical play. i dont see anything in manual that would address such play. I dont think choking down on the hex adapter is the answer, It is still tight on its flat spot.

I dont see any washers or circlips in the manual that I missed

As I recall the starter shaft goes in from the clutch end and you use the starter hex nut to hold it all together. I could be mistaken as it's been a while.

It probably slipped a bit. Getting it snug is tough to do with the motor still installed. If you drop the motor you can hold your thumb on the bottom of the shaft while tightening the hex adapter.

so the hex adapter holds it in the vertical... OK there is lots of play vertically so something did loosen. I'll check it

follow up:

Yes the starter hex was sloppy on its shaft flat spot. It looked like the whole start shaft had vertical play but I reloctite the hex adapter set screw and cinched it to shaft bearing.

All is good now!
